Job Description

The Sourcing Project Manager II is responsible for conducting all sourcing activities and managing suppliers for specific assigned categories. This role involves working with Engineering, Program Management, Facilities, and Materials Management to achieve manufacturing objectives and increase product commercial supply. Key duties include conducting QMS audits, supplier site visits, leading supplier selection, contract negotiations, and conflict resolution with international and domestic vendors. The manager will also secure project resources, develop processes, and mentor junior staff.

  • Propose and implement risks mitigations plans.
  • Build supplier relationships through frequent and effective communication.
  • Develop negotiation strategies and ensure consultations and/or negotiations are managed in accordance with existing strategies/agreements.
  • Effectively resolve disputes, hold crucial conversations, recommend solutions.
  • Review departmental Standard Operating Procedure and Work Instruction documents.
  • Lead Suppliers’ Business Reviews.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field with 5+ years of sourcing or purchasing experience in a corporate environment.
  • OR High school diploma/GED with 9 years of experience in sourcing or purchasing.

Description

Sourcing Project Manager is responsible for conducting all sourcing activities and managing suppliers for specific assigned categories in accordance with the prescribed sourcing regulations and procedures. The Sourcing Category Project works in conjunction with Engineering Project Managers, Program Management, Facilities and Materials Management to meet Company manufacturing objectives and increase product commercial supply. Conduct Quality Management System (QMS) audits and supplier site visits to ensure relationship between parties will meet capacity requirements, cost expectations, delivery timelines, and quality standards. Lead supplier selection, contract negotiations, and conflict resolution with international and domestic vendors. Secure and source required project resources. Develop processes and procedures to support company interests. Expected to work and communicate well with team members, other departments, and Executive Management.

Position duties:

1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMérieux’s Quality System. Adhere to Regulatory requirements, including FDA, ISO, Legal, Ethical and bioMérieux specific procedures.

2. Manages and coordinates Sourcing/Purchasing activities related to allocated project(s).

3. Works in conjunction with Program Management, Engineering, Facilities and Material Management groups to develop and maintain project plans, including scheduling and milestones. Works with vendor to ensure timelines, quality, and cost objectives are met.

4. Provides business oversight for projects and makes business decisions, as necessary, to keep project in alignment with quality, cost, and timeline goals.

5. Communicate information pertaining to assigned category internally to interested parties to ensure they have adequate information to plan for project impacts.

6. Propose and implement risks mitigations plans, identify, and capture opportunities or business leverages whenever it is possible.

7. Build supplier relationships through frequent and effective communication of business, quality, and cost by interacting with current suppliers, consistently seeking opportunities to improve supplier partnerships to ensure a long-term positive relationship and continue to seek out supplier talent for future opportunities.

8. Develop negotiation strategies and ensure that all consultations and/or negotiations are managed in accordance with the existing strategies/agreements to ensure the organization is receiving competitive pricing, capacity requirements, and reducing risk.

9. Effectively resolve disputes, hold crucial conversations, recommend solutions to identify the root cause of issues, and correct problems as needed.

10. Mentor and develop Sourcing Project Manager I, Associate Purchasing Agents, and Purchasing Agents preparing them for additional responsibilities through goal setting (when applicable).

11. Review departmental Standard Operating Procedure and Work Instruction documents for relevancy and accuracy.

12. Lead Suppliers’ Business Reviews coordinating with multiple internal teams in collecting and preparing for each review.

13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or related field, and 5 plus years of experience in sourcing or purchasing in a corporate environgment. (biotech, technical, or medical industry is preferred)
  • OR High school diploma/GED with 9 years of experience in sourcing or purchasing.
  • APICS/ISM--CSCP certification is a plus.
  • Indirect experience preferred.
  • Presenting skills preferred.
  • Four years in Supplier auditing preferred.
  • ISM certification is a plus

6. Knowledge of the medical industry or biotech is desired
