Job Description

The Sr. Architect will design, implement, and manage large enterprise databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security. Responsibilities include database administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting for various RDBMS platforms. The role involves working with application development teams, performing trend analysis, and mentoring junior administrators, utilizing technologies like MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and Postgres.
Must have:
  • Architect, define, evaluate, design, create, administer, implement and test large enterprise databases.
  • Ensure data replication, data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and space requirements are met.
  • Apply service packs, cumulative updates, and tune poorly performing databases.
  • Monitor database performance and maintain backup/recovery environments.
  • Triage and troubleshoot issues for Relational Database Models (RDMS) and platform environments.
  • Perform clustering and trend/growth analyses.
  • Automate procedures and reorganize or defragment databases.
  • Upgrade databases in side-by-side and/or in-place configurations.
  • Master's degree with 3 years or Bachelor's with 5 years of experience in database administration.
  • Experience with Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, and MS SQL server platforms.
  • Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, and query tuning.
  • Experience with data security techniques and measures.
  • Ability to evaluate large database transaction loads and connections.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job Description:

Sr. Architects for various and unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S. (HQ: Chicago, IL). Architect, define, evaluate, design, create, administer, implement and test large enterprise databases and database structures including transaction loads and connections, convert standalone databases to clustered databases. Ensure data replication, data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and space requirements for databases are met through formulations and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management. Apply service packs and cumulative updates and tune poorly performing databases to ensure optimal configuration. Monitor database performance. Maintain database backup/recovery and restore environments, review overall physical database structures for data integrity, performance quality, recoverability, maintenance, and space requirement considerations. Triage and troubleshoot issues for Relational Database Models (RDMS) (logical and physical) and platform environments and facilitate application development and problem resolution. Monitor file system space and database allocation and verify efficient use of disk storage to optimize impact and provide application development staff an optimal development environment and current data. Perform clustering and trend/growth analyses. Automate procedures and reorganize or defragment databases, tables, and indexes in order to provide efficient database environments, maximize productivity, and improve performance. Upgrade databases in a side-by-side and/or in-place configurations. Work with customers and communicate complex technical information in articulate manner. Mentor junior database administrators. Technical Environment: MS SQL server platforms, SQL (programming & optimizing code); Management Data Warehouse, SQL Performance Dashboard, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, SQL Dynamic Functions and Views, and Windows Performance Monitor and Resource Monitor. writing T-SQL & stored procedures & query tuning online transaction systems; database modeling techniques and development methodology; data security techniques/measures (user & role permissions, auditing, penetration & vulnerability tests, restricting SQL access); schema design of table spaces, rollback segments, data files.

Job Requirement:

*Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or any Engineering field plus 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in database administration and support required. Required Skills: Must have experience with relational database models, logical and physical database design and architecture; hands-on database modeling techniques and development methodology; physical schema design of table spaces, rollback segments, data files; design and implement backup and recovery of RDBMS under failover and switchover events; Oracle, MySQL, Postgres; SQL (programming & optimizing code); writing T-SQL and stored procedures & query tune online transaction systems; performing installations, tuning & optimization, monitoring, backup/restore, troubleshooting, data replication, D/R & business continuity, clustering & trend/growth analysis; data security measures (user & role permissions, auditing, penetration & vulnerability tests, restricting SQL access); demonstrated experience evaluating large database transaction loads & connections (over 15,000 application transactions/second); experience working with customers in high-pressure situations & complex environments; excellent verbal & written communication skills. Telecommuting permitted. (*Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or any Engineering field plus 5 years of progressive experience as a Database Administrator or in database administration and support also acceptable).

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $133,973/yr - $136,871/yr. annually. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may also be eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
