Job Description

The Supervisor, Accounting at Hasbro will provide leadership and mentorship to a team, overseeing month-end close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and compliance. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving work, liaising with auditors, ensuring SOX compliance, and working closely with a BPO partner (Infosys). The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP), and experience in a multinational corporation. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork capabilities, working effectively under pressure to manage fluctuating workloads.

Key Responsibilities

 

Supervisory Role:

  • Provide active leadership and mentorship to assigned direct report(s) within the function.
  • Ensure that direct report(s) have the necessary skills and proficiencies to perform daily tasks, providing support and mentoring to consistently achieve high performance levels.
  • Recruit, motivate, and develop team members, including setting team objectives, defining duties, conducting performance appraisals, and crafting individual development plans.
  • Work closely with our BPO partner, Infosys, to ensure outsourced roles/tasks are done accurately and promptly. Address any issues by informing both Infosys and Hasbro management.
  • Serve as the initial support point for the team in troubleshooting issues before advancing to the Director, Financial Reporting.

 

Reviewer/Approver Role:

  • Coordinate month-end activities and closing tasks in accordance with Corporate timelines.
  • Review and approve journal entries prepared by the team.
  • Ensure completion of sub-ledger activities as part of the month-end close process.
  • Perform and review account reconciliations, including intercompany and bank reconciliations, using Blackline or Excel where applicable.
  • Ensure intercompany transactions adhere to Corporate Transfer Pricing policies.
  • Coordinate the submission of year-end reporting packages and tax schedules per Corporate requirements.
  • Prepare annual tax returns for review and submission by Company tax representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, taxation, and other government requirements, maintaining adequate documentation for compliance.
  • Liaise with Company Auditors to ensure timely completion of annual audits and preparation of Statutory Accounts.

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and other internal controls in place per Company policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
  • Actively support the Global R2R team in implementing new ways of working.

 

 

Requirements

 

  • University graduate majoring in Finance & Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Qualified Accountant with membership from a recognized professional accountancy institution preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a sizeable multinational corporation or listed company.
  • Experience in Shared Service environments focusing on General Ledger and Reporting.
  • Knowledge of local GAAP, with tax and audit experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably SAP, Business One & Accpac) and Reporting platforms (preferably LongView).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and advanced MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Hands-on knowledge and recent usage of SAP.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Organized and methodical approach with the ability to manage fluctuating workloads.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and customer-centric attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational competence and ability to raise issues clearly and promptly.
