The VP Finance – Digital & IT role is responsible for the total Digital & IT finance function, partnering with the Digital & IT Senior Leadership Team to drive strategy execution, secure savings on managed service costs, and optimize IT service/software costs. This position plays a key role in transformation activities as the company launches its Digital & IT strategy, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery across all divisions. The role involves providing financial management, leading finance strategy formulation and execution, evaluating IT investment schemes, managing reporting and forecasting, and interpreting performance trends to provide insightful analysis and solutions to senior management.
Must have:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Finance Business Partner – Digital & IT.

 

The role will sit within the Group Chief Digital Information Officer’s recently reconfigured first line with accountability for total Digital & IT finance. As such, this position will play a key role partnering with the Digital & IT Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to drive effective execution on our strategy and 5YP deliverables, securing savings on managed service costs and optimising IT service/software costs. The Rolls Royce Digital & IT function is responsible for cost, quality and delivery across all three Divisions of Civil Aerospace, Defence and Power Systems as well as our Enabling Functions, and this role will also be at the centre of transformation activities as we launch RR’s Digital & IT strategy.

What you will be doing:

  • To be an integral part of the Digital & IT SLT providing direction, insight, and options to drive business performance 
  • To business partner with consistent focus on delivery of 2025 Plan and 5YP, ensuring a good understanding of our financial numbers and associated risks & opportunities exists among all levels of the Digital/ IT management
  • Support the Digital/IT teams to drive cost savings through procurement price reduction and challenging demand increases, or via further optimisation or revenue growth amongst the other IT service lines
  • Provide cost transparency to the Divisions of Digital/IT costs and work with the Divisional Leaders to identify further cost optimisation
  • Financial management of the Business to deliver financial commitments.  Ensure budgets and multi-year forecasts are translated into business level plans; pro-actively work to ensure optimal performance and achievement of business targets and strategy
  • Lead Finance partner to Digital & IT strategy formulation and execution, ensuring all financial plans are validated, dependencies understood, key stakeholders are engaged, and risks & opportunities are communicated timely.
  • Dedicated Finance partner to two strategy workstreams – AI and Tech Debt - requiring detailed knowledge and active management of workstream objectives, investment, and execution processes.
  • To strengthen Finance’s position in RR’s investment appraisal process, evaluating, challenging and making recommendations on new IT investment schemes and commercial deals to ensure that we deliver effective shareholder value or reduce IT risk to within our agreed risk appetite
  • Working alongside the Digital & IT Portfolio and PMO team, ensure approved Digital/IT investment cases are controlled, monitored, delivered and benefits are realised in line with agreed timelines
  • Manage reporting, forecasting and any statutory requirements for Digital & IT with the help of the regional finance managers and offshore support teams
  • Interpret performance trends, provide insightful analysis of the drivers of actual performance and variances to plan, support the generation of improvement plans and provide solutions to senior management on financial issues
  • Manage the functional reporting timeline and deliverables for Digital & IT
  • Provide ad hoc reports, assessments or presentations as required

  • Good excel and PowerPoint skills, knowledge of RR systems preferable
