To ensure the usability of in-vehicle infotainment systems, autonomous driving/driver assistance systems, and convenient functions through smartphone-specific applications like connected car services, we investigate customer expectations, cognition, and behavior. We are also responsible for validating new value with prototypes and formulating requirements and target values for design. We confirm the achievement level using production-equivalent vehicles in actual usage environments, and for overseas product development, we conduct development activities in close cooperation with overseas bases.
We logically hypothesize seemingly ambiguous customer usage environments and methods from a human perspective, and quantify them into tangible products through measurement and statistical analysis. We repeatedly communicate with experts, including those overseas, to grasp regional requirements and formulate design requirements from the perspectives of human characteristics and system reliability.
In the design element development phase, we actively discuss with the planning department to concretely anticipate customer expectations and visualize the customer experience (UX) to a level where design concepts can be formed, utilizing the latest visual software. Before the completion of drawings, we reproduce the GUI of IT devices on a simulator and verify usability requirements and target achievement in a dedicated evaluation area. Members with various skills in mechanical and electronic engineering are engaged in daily development experiments, and the team consists of members with diverse backgrounds. It is a workplace where anyone, including young employees, can actively voice their opinions.
