Job Description

The View Item and Transaction Flows Engineering team at eBay is crucial for crafting core user experiences, including item details, auctions, and offers, driving significant global revenue. This role involves designing and developing modular features to improve eBay’s core functionalities, translating product documents into high-quality, crash-free production code, implementing unit tests, conducting code reviews, and maintaining technical documentation. The engineer will collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate design options and ensure timely task completion, contributing to scalable, responsive systems and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Must Have:
  • Design and develop modular and loosely coupled features.
  • Translate product and design documents into high-quality, crash-free production code.
  • Implement unit tests and automation code for robust feature delivery.
  • Conduct code reviews within your immediate team.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to propose and evaluate multiple design options, providing informed estimates and ensuring task completion within deadlines.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in native development.
  • Proven expertise in Android programming including Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Dagger/Hilt & Android Studio.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and testing Android applications using platform tools.
  • Experience in production monitoring and a basic understanding of memory management.
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

This team leads all aspects of crucial functionalities such as item details, auctions, offers, and SEO optimized landing experiences, driving significant revenue through diverse global user interactions across all devices and browsers. We ensure scalable, responsive systems and leverage frequent user feedback and experimentation to improve customer happiness. What you will accomplish:

  • Design and develop modular and loosely coupled features that improve eBay’s core functionalities.
  • Independently translate product and design documents into high-quality, crash-free production code, ensuring clean, maintainable, and well-tested outputs.
  • Implement unit tests and automation code for robust feature delivery, ensuring high standards of software reliability.
  • Conduct code reviews within your immediate team to uphold quality assurance and performance improvements.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support continuous development and feature evolution.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to propose and evaluate multiple design options, providing informed estimates and ensuring task completion within deadlines.

What you will bring:

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in native development, with proven expertise in Android programming including Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Dagger/Hilt & Android Studio.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and testing Android applications using platform tools.
  • Experience in production monitoring and a basic understanding of memory management to optimize application performance.
  • Innovation and teamwork capabilities, coupled with excellent communication skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Eagerness to embrace new technologies, participate in knowledge sharing sessions, and demonstrate a self-driven attitude towards continuous learning.
