Job Summary
This role involves creating virtual worlds and characters from imagination, bringing them to life with scope, weight, and meaning. The 3D Modeler will work closely with Concept Artists, creating characters, objects, layouts, and backgrounds from concept art. Responsibilities include amending artwork, adapting to new software, managing assets, and ensuring high-quality final output using industry-standard 3D modeling programs like Maya, Mudbox, and Photoshop. A strong understanding of form, anatomy, and color is essential.
Must Have
- Liaising with 3D Modelers and Concept Artists regarding project requirements
- Work from concept art to create characters, objects, layouts, backgrounds
- Amend artwork as per instructions from designers and developers
- Adapt to software upgrades and stay up to date with new technologies
- Manage files, asset libraries and update procedures documentation
- Understanding of form, shape, language and color
- Knowledge of anatomy – proportions, muscle and skeletal structures
- Use 3D Modeling, texturing, mapping, and other techniques
- Able to give a beautiful look in the final output
- Must be well versed with industry standard 3D modeling programs and tools

3D Modeling is the creation of a virtual world in which everything must be visualized and created from pure imagination. The 3D Modeler brings an imagined universe and the characters that inhabit to life. Everything within frame has scope, weight and meaning. Animators need to be able to visualize new worlds into being.
