Job Description

PayPay, a fintech company launched in 2018, has rapidly grown to over 70 million users globally. This accounting position supports the acceleration of business speed in a dynamic environment with new services. The role involves general accounting operations, supporting new service launches, and accounts receivable management. You will contribute to the company's rapid growth, potentially participating in IPO initiatives, and experience the speed of a venture company while working closely with management. We seek proactive individuals who can lead projects and adapt to change.
Must have:
  • Overall settlement operations (monthly/quarterly settlement, settlement control, audit response, reporting)
  • Requirements definition for ERP system modifications
  • Invoice payment processing, employee advance payment processing
  • Cash flow management, journal entry, settlement journal adjustment
  • Fixed asset related operations
  • Data aggregation and analysis
  • Responding to inquiries from internal stakeholders
  • Consideration of accounting and accounting operations centered on revenue for new service launches
  • Accounting-related requirements definition for in-house system development for new service launches
  • Communication with business divisions for new service launches
  • Manual creation for new service launches
  • Accounts receivable management (AR recording and reconciliation), revenue recognition judgment, journal entry
  • Audit response, data collection, analysis
  • Responding to inquiries from internal stakeholders for AR
Good to have:
  • Nissho Boki Level 1, or Certified Public Accountant qualification
  • Experience in accounting system implementation or requirements definition for accounting-related systems
  • Experience in data extraction and analysis using SQL
  • Experience in business process efficiency improvement and systematization
  • Skill to interpret contracts, including English contracts
  • Business level English proficiency / Experience working with foreign nationals

About the Role

Position Introduction

As a provider of financial platforms, including QR code payments, our company constantly plans new services, leading to significant movement and changes in accounting operations. In such an environment, the accounting team works quickly and accurately, collaborating with internal departments and external parties to accelerate business speed. This department allows you to leverage your accounting knowledge and communication skills. The team currently recruiting consists of over 10 members each, mainly in their 30s and 40s, with diverse backgrounds including former audit firm employees, those with accounting experience at listed companies, and individuals with system knowledge.

Background of Recruitment

Our company is rapidly growing its business centered on the smartphone payment service "PayPay." With the increasing number of employees and services year by year, we aim to further strengthen our accounting operations by building a system suitable for a leading payment service company, corresponding to the expanding company size. This recruitment is for an increase in headcount due to organizational expansion. We are looking for individuals who can not only handle routine accounting tasks but also lead projects to transform and build processes to accelerate PayPay's business growth. We are conducting recruitment with a "PayPay All" approach. The Accounting Department is currently divided into four teams: "Settlement & AP Team," "New Business & AR Team," "Accounting Planning Team," and "DX Promotion Team." For this recruitment, we anticipate assigning you to either the "Settlement & AP Team" or the "New Business & AR Team" based on your experience and preferences.

Specific Job Responsibilities

Settlement & AP Team

  • Overall settlement operations (monthly/quarterly settlement, settlement control, audit response, reporting)
  • Requirements definition for ERP system modifications
  • Invoice payment processing, employee advance payment processing
  • Cash flow management, journal entry, settlement journal adjustment
  • Fixed asset related operations
  • Data aggregation and analysis
  • Responding to inquiries from internal stakeholders, etc.

New Business & AR Team

  • Tasks related to new service launch:
  • Consideration of accounting and accounting operations centered on revenue
  • Accounting-related requirements definition for in-house system development
  • Communication with business divisions

  • Tasks related to AR:
  • Accounts receivable management (AR recording and reconciliation), revenue recognition judgment, journal entry
  • Audit response, data collection, analysis
  • Responding to inquiries from internal stakeholders

Required Experience/Skills

  • One of the following:
  • Over 3 years of accounting experience at a listed company
  • Over 3 years of accounting audit experience at an audit firm
  • Experience in ERP system implementation or requirements definition
  • Experience in implementing or considering new revenue recognition standards
  • Experience leading accounting-related projects as a central figure
  • Willingness to actively challenge the unknown

Desirable Experience/Skills

Employment Type

  • Full-time employee

Work Location

  • Hybrid Workstyle (office, home, or satellite office for remote work)
  • For this position, it is necessary to reside in the Tokyo metropolitan area where commuting to the Tokyo head office is possible.
  • Use of satellite office is subject to departmental rules.

Working Hours

  • Super Flex System (no core time)
  • Principle: 9:00 AM - 5:45 PM (7 hours 45 minutes actual work + 1 hour break)

Holidays

  • Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, and company-designated days

Salary

  • Annual salary system (including some fixed overtime pay)
  • Determined according to company regulations based on experience, skills, performance, and contribution
  • Reviewed once a year
  • Special bonus (incentive) paid once a year based on company performance and individual contribution
  • Overtime work allowance, late-night work allowance available
  • Regarding salary payment, a portion can be received via PayPay account (supports digital salary payment)
