Job Summary

This part-time Adjunct Instructor position supports the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Office of Secure Transportation (OST / NA-15), a semi-autonomous entity under the Department of Energy. Adjunct instructors will assist or augment full-time General, Specialized, and Drive Instructors, filling various roles including CDL driving instructors. The role involves supporting OST training activities and requires a high degree of physical fitness to work in diverse training environments and conditions, with potential for up to 100% travel.

Must Have

  • Current DOE L or DoD Secret security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • HS Diploma/GED degree or higher
  • Ability to work in a broad range of training environments and conditions, requiring a high degree of physical fitness

Good to Have

  • Tractor Trailer Drive training with a minimum of three years of experience driving with a CDL and no preventable accidents
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (preferably Arkansas)

  • FLETC or DHS-recognized Tactical Explosive Entry Course
  • Law Enforcement Control Tactics (LECT) (FLETC) for the General Instructors, Type I assigned
  • Law Enforcement Fitness Coordinator Training Program (FLETC) for the General Instructors, Type I assigned
  • Controller Training – OST-Specific Training
  • Certification in First Aid
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Job Description

This position supports the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Office of Secure Transportation (OST / NA-15). NNSA is a semi-autonomous entity under the Department of Energy (DOE) that supports the Department of War’s nuclear weapon enterprise.

This is a part-time position. Adjunct instructors can fill many instructor roles to include CDL driving instructors. The position may require travel to training locations. Cost of travel to training locations may limit adjunct instructor use.

Primary Location: Fort Smith, Arkansas

Travel: Up to 100% of use depending on cost of travel.

Security Clearance required: Current DOE L or DoD Secret.

Responsibilities:

Adjunct Instructors will be utilized to assist or augment full-time General Instructors, Specialized Instructors, and Drive Instructors. Adjunct Instructors will be utilized only when assistance is needed to achieve the total number of personnel required to support OST training and activities. Adjunct Instructors will also be subject to strenuous training activities that require a high degree of physical fitness that allows the individual to work in a broad range of training environments and conditions.

Requirements:

Desired Skills (Driver): Tractor Trailer Drive training with a minimum of three years of experience driving with a CDL and no preventable accidents.
