Job Summary

Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for a weekend schedule in Palmdale, CA. This role focuses on improving manufacturing processes and performance, reducing costs in coatings, structure assembly, and advanced composites. The engineer will create manufacturing plans, develop tooling requirements for structural assembly, and interpret designs for producibility. Candidates need a Bachelor's Degree and experience with manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing, and MRP/SAP systems. A secret security clearance is required.

Must Have

  • Experience with manufacturing processes and procedures including fabrication, assembly, machining, and electrical in composites, metallics, bonded assemblies, and installations
  • Previous experience with lean manufacturing and process improvements
  • Experience with MRP system, SAP, or other Manufacturing Execution System (MES) application
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance upon offer acceptance and maintain it
  • Ability to obtain special program access within 3 months of start date
  • Creating manufacturing plans
  • Developing tooling requirements for Structural Assembly
  • Interpreting designs for producibility and manufacturability

Good to Have

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related technical field with 5+ years experience
  • Understanding of LM Palmdale company policies, procedures and systems including SAP and SFM
  • Experience supporting various projects and coordinating activities related to the full life cycle of projects
  • Working knowledge of one or more organizations including Operations, IT, Planning, Production Control, ERP, MRP, Quality or systems integration
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and ability to successfully work with other team members
  • Demonstrated ability to drive issues to closure and develop preventative action plans
  • Demonstrated ability to solve logistical issues and lead efforts to drive mission success
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering blueprints, process specifications and manufacturing planning
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment working cross functionally with other disciplines

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree required to apply

• Experience with some combination of the following: experience with manufacturing processes and procedures including: fabrication, assembly, machining, and electrical in several disciplines including composites, metallics, machining, bonded assemblies &/or installations.

• Previous experience with lean manufacturing and process improvements

• Experience with MRP system or SAP or other Manufacturing Execution System (MES) application

• Ability to obtain a secret security clearance upon offer acceptance and willing to stay in current role/employment throughout the clearance processing period. Candidate must have a full secret clearance prior to start.

• Ability to obtain special program access within 3 months of start date with LM.

Desired Skills:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related technical field with 5+ years experience

• Understanding of LM Palmdale company policies, procedures and systems including SAP and SFM.

• Experience supporting various projects and coordinating activities related to the full life cycle of projects from conception to delivery

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $81,600 - $143,865. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
