Job Summary
Zelis is seeking a highly skilled AI, Data & IT Governance Specialist to design, implement, and operate governance practices ensuring safe, auditable, and efficient technology use across the enterprise. This role involves leading IT audit and controls, authoring policies and SOPs, building operational controls and tooling, and partnering with engineering, security, legal, audit, and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, SOC, SOX, ISO, HITRUST, PCI, PHI, and PII. The ideal candidate will combine audit rigor with product thinking and technical fluency in modern IT/Data/AI platforms.
Must Have
- Design, author and maintain enterprise AI, IT and Data governance policies, standards, control frameworks, and one-page SOPs aligned to NIST/ISO27001/COBIT and applicable regulations.
- Assist in IT audit activities and control testing (ITGC, application controls, access controls), produce findings and drive remediation.
- Support audit, regulatory, and compliance initiatives related to AI, IT, and Data management.
- Ensure compliance with information protection regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, NIST, COSO, COBIT, PCI-DSS, etc.) and industry standards.
- Excellent grasp of PHI, PII, PCI concepts and related requirements.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of practical experience in IT audit, IT governance, risk & controls (preferably at the Big 4, or another audit firm).
- Strong experience authoring policies and operational SOPs, running attestations, and managing control gap remediation.
- Strong understanding and practical knowledge/experience of regulatory compliance, risk management, including GITC, SOX, SOC, ISO, HITRUST testing and requirements across Active Directory, Databases, Server/OS, and Cloud environments.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology/Systems, Data Science, or a related field.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI, Data & IT Governance Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in design, implementing and operating governance practices that ensure safe, auditable and efficient use of technology across the enterprise. You’ll lead IT audit and controls activities, author policies and SOPs, build operational controls and tooling, and partner with engineering, security, legal, audit and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with HIPAA, SOC, SOX, ISO, HITRUST, PCI, PHI, PII and other relevant regulations. This role is ideal for a hands-on governance practitioner who combines audit rigor with product thinking and technical fluency in modern IT/Data/AI platforms.
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Design, author and maintain enterprise AI, IT and Data governance policies, standards, control frameworks, and one-page SOPs (policy → controls → evidence) aligned to NIST/ISO27001/COBIT and applicable regulations (HIPAA, SOC, SOX, PCI, PII, PHI) ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy.
- Assist in IT audit activities and control testing (ITGC, application controls, access controls), produce findings and drive remediation with clear owners and SLAs.
- Evaluate and document technology initiatives for risk, compliance, and alignment with architecture governance standards.
- Support audit, regulatory, and compliance initiatives related to AI, IT, and Data management.
- Prepare presentations, dashboards, and reports for leadership on governance performance and IT/AI/Data risk program outcomes.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve governance processes and reduce cycle time for decision-making.
- IT Collaboration: Work closely with IT stakeholders across the organization to integrate best governance practices into IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring seamless data flow and security.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with business units across the organization to understand data, AI, and IT needs and promote governance best practices.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with information protection regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, NIST, COSO, COBIT, PCI-DSS, etc.) and industry standards. Excellent grasp of PHI, PII, PCI concepts and related requirements, a must.
- Reporting: Generate and present reports on AI, Data and IT governance metrics, compliance, risk exposure and improvements to senior management.
- Training: Provide training and support to end-users on governance policies and procedures.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
Required:
