Job Details

Why join Aptiv? You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge applications, develop breakthrough technologies, and deliver innovative solutions to some of the world’s leading automotive brands. See your work come to life on the road—helping make mobility safer, greener, and more connected. Ready to shape the future of mobility with us?

YOUR ROLE

We’re looking for a hands-on Algorithm Development Lead with deep expertise in map-based localization and model-based development (MBD) to help shape the future of automated driving. You will architect and deliver high-performance localization solutions that power L2+ and L3 driver-assist features — directly impacting safety, comfort, and autonomy on real roads. This is a high-impact technical role with growth potential, including the opportunity to build and lead a focused localization team as the function expands. You’ll collaborate on-site with perception, planning, controls, systems, and software integration teams to deliver production-grade, real-time localization capabilities in a fast-paced and innovation-driven environment.

In your daily job you will:

  • Architect and implement real-time localization algorithms including HD map matching, GNSS/IMU fusion, LiDAR/vision alignment, and probabilistic estimation (e.g., EKF, UKF, particle filters).
  • Develop efficient, scalable code in C++/C, and prototype using MATLAB/Simulink or Python.
  • Leverage model-based development (MBD) for rapid iteration, requirement traceability, and test coverage.
  • Validate performance using unit tests (GTest), simulation, HIL/SIL, and in-vehicle testing environments.
  • Debug and optimize algorithms using tools like Lauterbach TRACE32, log analysis pipelines, and real-world test datasets.
  • Translate system-level requirements into testable algorithm specifications while supporting ISO 26262 and SoTIF compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and performance at the system level.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to growing the localization algorithm function and culture.

YOUR BACKGROUND

Key skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are:

  • 5+ years of experience in ADAS or autonomous systems, with a strong focus on localization, mapping, or sensor fusion.
  • Proficiency in C++14/17, C, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python.
  • Solid foundation in model-based development, Stateflow, and control/estimation theory.
  • Hands-on experience with Kalman filters, SLAM, coordinate systems, and vehicle kinematics.
  • Familiarity with debugging, trace, and test tools such as:
  • Lauterbach TRACE32
  • GTest
  • Vector DaVinci Developer / Configurator
  • Experience validating algorithms via simulation (SIL), hardware (HIL), and vehicle testing.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR Classic or Adaptive, including RTE and OS basics.
  • Exposure to dSPACE, RTMaps, ADTF, or custom simulation environments.
  • Understanding of functional safety and SoTIF standards (ISO 26262 / ISO 21448).
  • Contributions to open-source projects or research publications in localization or robotics.
  • Experience with ROS or custom log replay/visualization tools.

CAREER GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES

Depending on your strengths and interests, this role offers paths toward:

  • Technical Principalship – specializing deeply in localization and core autonomy algorithms
  • Engineering Leadership – building and managing a growing team of algorithm engineers
