Job Description

Haleon, a new world-leading consumer health company, is seeking an Analytical Senior Scientist. This role supports new product development through analytical methods, claims, and technology development. The Senior Scientist will develop and execute technical strategies in analytical chemistry, focusing on innovation via analytical method development/validation and building new capabilities for over-the-counter consumer products. Familiarity with HPLC/UPLC, GC, and dissolution is essential, requiring close collaboration with Formulations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams.
Must have:
  • Lead and execute technical aspects of analytical development with minimal supervision
  • Apply advanced analytical science knowledge to design experiments and complete tasks
  • Serve as analytical lead for multiple innovation projects
  • Direct and perform method development for various finished product dosage forms
  • Perform and direct method validation and transfer activities
  • Lead novel approaches to solve complex technical analytical problems
  • Create innovative analytical methodologies
  • Interface with internal and external partners
  • Recognize and resolve atypical data including chromatography and results
  • Troubleshoot difficult instrumentation issues
  • Mentor junior scientists
  • Direct and oversee outsourced analytical activities at contract laboratory organizations
  • Produce effective presentations and tailor messages to a variety of audiences
  • Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • MS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • BS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience
  • Experience in one or more of HPLC, GC and dissolution method development and validation
  • Moderate knowledge of US/FDA Regulatory, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ICH Quality standards

About the Role

Analytical sciences is a specialized discipline providing support for new product development via methods, claims and technology development programs that contribute to the growth of the Consumer Health Business.

This role as a Analytical Senior Scientist is expected to develop and execute technical strategies in analytical chemistry, within the R&D organization. This role will be focused on the delivery of innovation via analytical method development/validation and building new analytical capabilities for over-the-counter consumer product dosage forms. This role is familiar with HPLC/UPLC, GC and dissolution. The role requires close collaboration with scientists in Formulations, Quality, Supply Chain and Regulatory teams.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Being an engaged technical expert who leads and executes technical aspects of analytical development with minimal supervision
  • Having advanced knowledge of varied aspects or a specialized aspect of an analytical science and a working knowledge of principles and concepts in other relevant scientific disciplines. Applying technical and functional knowledge to design experiments, assist in project design, and independently complete tasks
  • Serve as analytical lead for multiple innovation projects with minimal supervision
  • Successfully directing and performing method development for various finished product dosage forms
  • Successfully performing and directing method validation and transfer activities with minimal supervision
  • Leading in the development of novel approaches to solve complex technical analytical problems
  • Creating innovative analytical methodologies
  • Serving as a scientific and technical colleague who interfaces with internal and external partners
  • Consistently recognizing atypical data including chromatography and results and resolving the issues
  • Troubleshooting difficult instrumentation issues
  • Technical leader and mentor of junior scientists
  • Direction and oversight of the execution of outsourced analytical activities at contract laboratory organizations
  • Producing effective presentations and possessing writing skills to tailor messages to a variety of audiences as appropriate (e.g. external, commercial, management, scientific)

  • Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • MS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • BS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience
  • Experience in one or more of HPLC, GC and dissolution method development and validation

Location: This role is based in Richmond, VA with in-office requirements of 5 days per week.
