Job Description

The Senior Planning Manager will oversee and optimize the product portfolio flow, including planning and scheduling production activities, considering inventory levels, sales forecasts, and production capacity. This role ensures a strong link between the plant and Global Supply Chain (GSM) to meet market needs, resolving issues like volume fluctuations and supply challenges. The manager contributes to long-term planning strategies, process improvement, and team performance across key indicators (Safety, Quality, Service, Finance, People). They ensure synchronization between departments, manage inventory, and promote staff development while adhering to quality regulations and corporate policies.
Must have:
  • Ensure a privileged link between the plant and the GSM (Global Supply Chain) group to meet market needs.
  • Represent the Montreal plant in resolving issues with markets, including volume fluctuations, supply challenges, and financial cost absorption disputes.
  • Responsible for maintaining and adhering to market supply agreements, including establishing and revising system parameters and providing recommendations to the GSM group for market stock levels.
  • Responsible for coordinating the establishment of the volume budget in close collaboration with the GSM group and tracking deviations throughout the year.
  • Ensure five-star service (OTIF), including regular review of 'Out of Stock Events' and '% in Stock' metrics.
  • Closely interact with new product launch project management team members and major change introduction.
  • Manage the short, medium, and long-term capacity plan (0-12 months), including the master production plan for all plant sectors based on volumes.
  • Communicate potential capacity issues to senior management to anticipate resource needs (equipment and personnel), product transfers, and new products.
  • Validate volume requests based on budget.
  • Responsible with their team for developing detailed production plans for each sector.
  • Ensure the planning team actively participates and adds value in meetings with various stakeholders to track production activity progress.
  • Manage inventory and approve material destruction memos.
  • Develop, advise, and lead planning team members regarding their professional development.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Coach their team (clarify expectations, follow up, and provide feedback) based on company values.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations.

Job Details

Objective of the position:

The incumbent of this position will be responsible for managing and optimizing all activities related to the flow of the product portfolio under their responsibility, including the planning and scheduling of all production activities, taking into account inventory levels, sales forecasts, and production capacity.

They ensure a privileged link between the plant and the GSM (Global Supply Chain) group to meet the needs of different markets. Furthermore, they represent the Montreal plant in resolving issues with markets, including volume fluctuations, supply challenges, and disputes related to the absorption of financial costs.

They participate in establishing medium and long-term strategies for the planning department, as well as improving the department's planning processes. They are responsible for the performance of their work team within the supply chain group for all key indicators (Safety, Quality, Service, Finance, and People).

They ensure good synchronization between the different departments, including manufacturing, packaging, and laboratories, by establishing and executing the master production plan. They work closely with different departments and perform rigorous management to ensure optimal staffing levels and equipment availability – in the short and long term – to achieve set objectives.

Through their leadership, the planning manager ensures the coherent functioning and adherence to the operating standards of the Haleon Performance System (HAPS) for all elements, including standard work, the continuous improvement loop, structured gembas, visual management, as well as the smooth running of third-party meetings and integration with other ecosystems.

They must perform sound inventory management by supervising and reviewing, in collaboration with the Finance department, the financial reserve. They will also approve destruction memos and ensure the validity of the destruction need.

They must ensure the promotion of their staff's development, engagement, and provide a stimulating work environment offering learning opportunities for all. Must ensure compliance with quality rules by following GMP regulations, corporate policies, and compliance standards during operations.

CLIENT RELATIONSHIP AND DEMAND MANAGEMENT

  • Ensures a privileged link between the plant and the GSM (Global Supply Chain) group to meet the needs of different markets.
  • Represents the Montreal plant in resolving issues with markets, including volume fluctuations, supply challenges, and disputes related to the absorption of financial costs.
  • Responsible for maintaining and adhering to market supply agreements, including establishing and revising system parameters (minimum order quantity, make frequency, etc.) and providing recommendations to the GSM group for market stock levels.
  • Responsible for coordinating the establishment of the volume budget in close collaboration with the GSM group and tracking deviations from current levels throughout the year.
  • Ensures five-star Service (OTIF), among other things, through regular review of “Out of Stock Events” and the “% in Stock” metric.
  • Interacts closely with members of the new product launch project management team and the introduction of major changes.

CAPACITY MANAGEMENT:

  • Manages the short, medium, and long-term capacity plan (0-12 months), including the master production plan for all plant sectors based on volumes.
  • Communicates potential capacity problems to senior management to anticipate resource needs (equipment and personnel), product transfers, and new products.
  • Validates volume requests based on the budget.

EXECUTION MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible with their team for developing detailed production plans for each sector.
  • Ensures that the planning team actively participates and adds value in meetings with various stakeholders to track the progress of production activities.
  • Manages inventory and approves material destruction memos.

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

  • Develops, advises, and leads planning team members regarding their professional development.
