Job Summary
Electronic Arts' Firemonkeys Studio in Melbourne is seeking an Animation Intern for The SIMS FreePlay mobile team. This 12-month full-time contract role involves developing animation and pre-production art skills, creating polished in-game performances for human and animal characters, and collaborating with content teams. The intern will apply animation principles, build 3D model proxy meshes, and iterate on animated sequences to enhance player experience.
Must Have
- Apply animation principles and key-frame techniques to craft charismatic and convincing actions for human and animal characters
- Develop relationships with other departments and outsourcing teams to determine and fulfill technical requirements for animated assets
- Work closely with content teams to generate imaginative and exciting SFP updates
- Build 3D model proxy meshes and basic rigs for asset pre-production
- Respond to feedback and iterate on animated sequences to achieve SFP style of animation and expected level of polish
- Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment between internal and external teams
- Must be a recent 2025 graduate to be eligible
- Must be available for a 12-month paid full-time contract
- Proficiency in Maya or equivalent 3D animation software
- Experience in creating pose to pose key-framed animations
- Basic understanding of Animation Principles and Body Mechanics

As an Animation Intern for Firemonkeys Studio, you will be part of The SIMS FreePlay (SFP) mobile team, where you will develop your skills as both an animator and pre-production artist, learning new software and techniques for creating polished animations and building believable characters. You will report to the Animation Director and collaborate with a talented team to produce polished in-game performances that deepen our players' emotional and gameplay experience.
