The U.S. Structured Credit (US SC) team at Morningstar DBRS is seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP) to serve as a surveillance analyst. This role involves monitoring transaction performance and existing credit ratings for a growing portfolio. The US SC team is responsible for assigning and monitoring credit ratings, developing research, and maintaining methodologies for various investment fund debts, including CLOs and other corporate securitizations. The AVP will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of credit ratings.
Must have:
  • Lead analyst for monitoring transaction performance and surveilling existing credit ratings.
  • Complete credit ratings administration including record retention, committee coordination, and publishing liaison.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis using Morningstar DBRS predictive models and methodologies.
  • Prepare and present detailed discussion and committee memos for credit rating committees.
  • Draft credit rating letters, press releases, and other relevant disclosures.
  • Assist with data analysis applying MDBRS rating methodologies and analytical tools.
  • Assess legal, regulatory, counterparty, and other risks related to US SC credit ratings.
  • Train and mentor junior analysts in credit ratings administration and publishing.
  • Respond to client and colleague inquiries regarding methodologies, analysis, and research.
  • Coordinate with other MDBRS teams for credit rating surveillance, analysis, administration, and research.
  • 5-7 years’ relevant experience in Funds or Structured Finance ratings, middle office, financial reporting, or credit/counterparty risk management.
  • Advanced knowledge and practical skills in Microsoft Excel for data tracking and manipulation.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with high attention to detail and quality work.
  • Willingness and ability to proactively learn new analytical approaches.
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize and complete critical work quickly and independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking to multiple deadlines.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills to motivate team members.

  • Knowledge of analytical programming language (VBA, Python, etc.)

About the Role

The U.S. Structured Credit (US SC) team is looking for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) to support its growing portfolio of credit ratings as a surveillance analyst.

US SC is a credit rating analytics team that assigns credit ratings, monitors credit ratings, develops research and maintains credit rating methodologies for investment fund debt, collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), other corporate securitizations and bespoke credit rating opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead analyst responsible for monitoring transaction performance and surveilling existing credit ratings.
  • Complete credit ratings administration for surveillance including record retention, credit rating committee coordination and publishing liaison.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis using Morningstar DBRS developed predictive models and credit rating methodologies.
  • Prepare and present detailed discussion and committee memos for US SC credit rating committees.

Qualifications

  • Completed a bachelor’s degree.
  • 5-7 years’ relevant experience, which could include:
  • Funds or Structured Finance ratings-related work,
  • Middle office or financial reporting background,
  • Credit or counterparty risk management focusing on credit funds, or
  • Other relevant experience as a market participant.
  • Strong interest in credit funds, CLOs, private credit and private equity encouraged.
  • Advanced knowledge and practical skills in using Microsoft Excel, with the ability to track and manipulate data to provide accurate reporting.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, with a high attention to detail and producing high quality work.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new analytical approaches proactively.
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize and complete critical work quickly, independently and with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking to multiple deadlines.
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate team members to produce timely and accurate work product.

Base Salary Compensation Range

$95,000.00 - 154,000.00 USD Annual

Incentive Target Percentage

20% Annual
