Job description
- Understand TransPerfect’s quality standards and ensure they are upheld to meet client expectations
- Take part in and pass all trainings required for Associate Linguists, including but not limited to their subject matter certification, tech tools, TPT production processes, and Quality Assurance processes
- Easily navigate among company resources, including but not limited to, Confluence, Launchpad, technology, etc.
- Perform all linguistic tasks according to project specifications, including but not limited to project instructions, reference materials, language assets (translation memory, glossary, style guide, etc.)
- Follow internal and client processes on all projects
- Work under close supervision of the Team Lead/a more senior member of the team
- Achieve quality and efficiency targets as set by manager/supervisor
- Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for this role and assigned by the manager/supervisor
Highlights of this position
- Gain comprehensive experience in the life sciences field while performing overall quality control tasks related to clinical trial translations.
- Acquire industry knowledge by responding to hands-on requests such as small translations and revisions within the production team.
- Eventually perform advanced tasks such as translation quality analysis, language strategy formulation, and AI tuning.
- Recommended for those who want to become specialists in life science documents (content and document management processes, etc.).
International team members
The team consists mostly of employees in their 20s to 40s with international backgrounds. Performance reviews are conducted annually, and promotions are based on performance. Regardless of age or length of service, efforts are transparently reflected in evaluations. There is a possibility of being asked to manage the team in the future.
Basic hiring process - 3-4 weeks
HR phone interview (Japanese) → At-home test → Online interview with Tokyo team members (Japanese) → Final office interview (Japanese)

Annual salary/compensation
- Annual salary system: 3.5 to 4.3 million yen
- Full social insurance
- Commuting allowance (up to 30,000 yen per month)
Working hours and holidays
- Monday-Friday, 8 hours work + 1 hour break between 9:00-19:00
- Two days off per week (Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays), Paid leave (15 days in the first year), Birthday leave, Condolence leave, Childcare leave, Sick leave
Contract type
First year as a contract employee (first 6 months are a probationary period), transition to permanent employee after the second year upon mutual agreement.
- During the contract employee period, salary, social insurance, paid leave days, and other benefits are the same as for permanent employees.

- Japanese native level speaker with conversational level English skill
- Cultural knowledge in both target and source language(s)
- Be flexible with changes of priorities and adaptive to a fast-paced work environment, including being open to align with Production and team needs and urgencies
- Flexibility and adaptability to the different assignments and tasks using the relevant skills and tools in each case (accuracy, creativity, terminology adequacy, etc.)
