Larian Studios, an award-winning developer known for Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2, is seeking an Associate Lead Engine Programmer. This role involves leading and mentoring the Engine team, managing code reviews, and collaborating with other programming leads. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining, porting, and extending the proprietary engine across multiple platforms, focusing on debugging and optimizing code for quality and performance. A strong passion for low-level coding and performance analysis is essential for crafting high-calibre games.

Must Have

  • Lead, mentor, and coach the Engine team.
  • Manage code reviews and code features documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining, porting, and extending our proprietary engine on multiple platforms.
  • Debug and optimize code to hit quality and performance targets.
  • Demonstrate a strong passion for low-level coding and performance analysis.
  • Possess demonstrable Lead or Management experience.
  • Extensive experience programming for games.
  • Excellent C++ skills.
  • Strong mentor and coaching ability.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Experience with graphics APIs like Directx 12 and Vulkan.
  • Experience with a wide range of CPU and GPU profiling tools.
  • Multi-threading proficiency.

Associate Lead Engine Programmer

With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games. As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for an Associate Engine Lead Programmer to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and coach our Engine team
  • Assist with recruiting of Engine Programmers
  • Manage code reviews and code features documentation
  • Work in tandem with Larian Studios other programming Leads
  • Assist in maintaining, porting and extending our proprietary engine on multiple platforms
  • Debug and optimize code to hit quality and performance targets
  • Show a strong passion for low level coding and a big interest in performance analysis
  • Complete all tasks in a timely manner and to a consistent high quality standard
  • Develop well designed software within project schedule to team standards
  • Show strong passion for making the highest quality state of the art games
  • Safeguard company assets including source code, art work, tools, technical know-how

Requirements

  • Demonstrable Lead or Management experience
  • Extensive experience programming for games
  • Excellent C++ skills
  • Strong mentor and coaching ability
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills*
  • Passion for making and playing great games
  • Experience with graphics APIs like Directx 12 and Vulkan
  • Experience with a wide range of CPU and GPU profiling tools
  • Multi threading should be second nature
  • This is a full-time, on-site role, requiring your presence in the office to support collaboration and creativity.
