About the Role
The Category Manager will lead category strategy, supplier management, and sourcing operations to ensure optimal product assortment, competitive pricing, and efficient procurement for a quick commerce business. This role focuses on driving sales growth, improving margins, and delivering high-quality goods that meet customer needs while ensuring operational excellence.
What you will do
- Develop and execute category strategies, including pricing, promotions, range planning, and availability to maximize sales and profitability.
- Optimize product assortment by addressing range gaps and ensuring high-quality, value-driven goods are available year-round.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to design promotional campaigns that enhance category visibility and performance.
- Build and maintain a strong supplier network to negotiate cost improvements, advertising spend, and reliable delivery schedules
- Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers to strengthen partnerships and drive performance improvements.
- Partner with supply chain teams to forecast demand and manage inventory levels effectively.
- Minimize wastage and shrinkage while ensuring consistent stock availability across dark stores.
- Work closely with Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Product teams to deliver strategic projects that align with business objectives.
What you will need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in category management or sourcing within e-commerce, FMCG, or retail industries.
- Proven track record in supplier negotiations and relationship management.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in leveraging data for decision-making.
- Knowledge of quick commerce operations is highly desirable.
