Job Description

The Category Manager at PHINIA is responsible for managing product performance within the EMEA region, aligning with product strategy. This involves understanding market needs, leading product launches and phase-outs, managing regional pricing, and providing sales enablement tools to commercial teams. Key responsibilities include market analysis, defining segmentation, managing product lifecycle, owning New-To-Range forecasts, leading regional market launches, and driving profitability improvements. The role also involves delivering product updates, training commercial teams, and supporting digital marketing initiatives.

Must Have:
  • Conduct market, channel, competitive & share of wallet (SoW) analysis to identify & execute growth opportunities in the region
  • Manage the introduction, growth and phase-out of products within the region of responsibility
  • Own New-To-Range (NTR) forecasts for the region, and execute plans to achieve NTR forecast accuracy
  • Lead regional market launches of new products, ensuring customer shelf-space wins
  • Identify & manage regional opportunities for excess and obsolete stock reductions
  • Lead cross-reference (x-ref) activities and needs for the region to support customer growth and tenders
  • Collaborate with technical teams to address regional technical- and product-related issues
  • Plan and implement appropriate product marketing tactics through the product lifecycle
  • Be a key contributor to EMEA pricing strategy creation and evolution with intelligence gathering on market positioning and competitor benchmarking
  • Lead pricing execution in region based on EMEA price strategy & with supportive pricing information gathered from local markets / trade marketing
  • Analyze product profitability and drive margin improvements with appropriate price adjustments
  • Own loading of pricing into relevant systems
  • Deliver effective and timely communication of product updates, technical changes, and positioning strategies within the region
  • Manage regional tools to support trade marketing and commercial teams - stock recommendations, NTR tracking, NTR pricing, etc
  • Lead product training for commercial teams in region
  • Collaborate with Trade Marketing to develop promotional activities aligned with product strategy & targets
  • Support digital marketing initiatives by providing product-related content for online platforms
  • Key contributor to the region demand forecasting process through collection & analysis of local market data, and ensure regional needs are communicated, understood and actioned
  • Identify and lead CI opportunities activities within the region
  • 5+ years in trade marketing, channel marketing or sales support within the automotive aftermarket or industrial sectors
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business or a related field
  • Strong project management and analytical skills
  • Experience in retail, B2B marketing and sales channel support
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including sales teams, dealers and marketing agencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM tools and data analysis software
  • Fluent in English
  • Proficient in building customer relations and loyalty
  • Strong analytical abilities and will have a data-oriented approach
  • Confident ability to present and communicate effectively with customers
  • Experience of social media marketing and content creation
  • Must own a valid driving license
  • Have a flexible approach to travel

Job Purpose

The Category Manager is responsible for managing the product performance within the region of responsibility in-line with EMEA product strategy. Role will focus on having a clear & detailed understanding of market knowledge to support the product development process with regional needs, leading market launches and phase-outs, owning the regional price management, and delivering appropriate product-focused sales enablement tools and knowledge to the commercial teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities

Product marketing management

  • Conduct market, channel, competitive & share of wallet (SoW) analysis to identify & execute growth opportunities in the region
  • Key contributor to definition of segmentation, targeting & positioning plans
  • Manage the introduction, growth and phase-out of products within the region of responsibility
  • Own New-To-Range (NTR) forecasts for the region, and execute plans to achieve NTR forecast accuracy
  • Lead regional market launches of new products, ensuring customer shelf-space wins
  • Identify & manage regional opportunities for excess and obsolete stock reductions
  • Lead cross-reference (x-ref) activities and needs for the region to support customer growth and tenders; collaborate with cataloguing to fill identified gaps
  • Collaborate with technical teams to address regional technical- and product-related issues
  • Plan and implement appropriate product marketing tactics through the product lifecycle

Price & profit management

  • Be a key contributor to EMEA pricing strategy creation and evolution with intelligence gathering on market positioning and competitor benchmarking
  • Lead pricing execution in region based on EMEA price strategy & with supportive pricing information gathered from local markets / trade marketing
  • Analyze product profitability and drive margin improvements with appropriate price adjustments

Sales enablement

  • Deliver effective and timely communication of product updates, technical changes, and positioning strategies within the region

Demand Planning

  • Key contributor to the region demand forecasting process through collection & analysis of local market data, and ensure regional needs are communicated, understood and actioned

Continuous improvement (CI)

  • Identify and lead CI opportunities activities within the region

What we’re looking for

Education/Experience - Required Qualifications and skills

  • 5+ years in trade marketing, channel marketing or sales support within the automotive aftermarket or industrial sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business or a related field.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Experience in retail, B2B marketing and sales channel support.
