Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated S3 Storage Architect to design, build, and evolve object storage services across hybrid environments (on-premises and public cloud). The successful candidate will play a key role in defining and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance storage architectures, leveraging S3-compatible technologies such as Cloudian, and integrating them with enterprise and cloud-native services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture & Design: Define the architecture for S3-compatible object storage services supporting both on-prem and cloud-based workloads (AWS, Azure, etc.).

  • Hybrid Storage Strategy: Design solutions that enable seamless integration between datacenter and cloud object storage.

  • Service Implementation: Lead the deployment and configuration of object storage clusters (e.g., Cloudian HyperStore), ensuring availability, durability, and scalability.

  • Automation & Orchestration: Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices using Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent to streamline provisioning and lifecycle management.

  • Monitoring & Optimization: Use tools like HyperIQ or Prometheus/Grafana to monitor usage, detect anomalies, and optimize performance.

  • Security & Compliance: Apply data protection standards, encryption policies, and access control measures aligned with EU regulations and customer expectations.

  • Disaster Recovery: Design and validate backup and DR strategies using object storage features like replication and versioning.

  • Integration Support: Collaborate with development, operations, and infrastructure teams to enable storage consumption via APIs, GitOps pipelines, and Kubernetes platforms.

  • Documentation: Maintain architecture blueprints, SOPs, and operational documentation for service ownership and audit readiness.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in infrastructure or storage architecture with significant hands-on experience in object storage and S3 APIs.

  • Strong understanding of distributed object storage systems (e.g., Cloudian, MinIO, AWS S3).

  • Expertise in hybrid storage design and integration between DC and cloud.

  • Proven experience in designing secure, scalable storage services for large organizations.

  • Solid skills in automation and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible).

  • Experience with container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker) and integrating storage in CI/CD or GitOps pipelines.

  • Monitoring experience with systems like HyperIQ, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.

  • Knowledge of IAM, encryption at rest/in transit, and secure multi-tenant architectures.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
