Job Description
As a Design Release Engineer for Mechatronics Systems in the Comfort & Aero domain, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and release of component and subsystem solutions that enhance vehicle comfort, aerodynamics, and mechanical–electrical integration. You will work cross-functionally with design, simulation, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to ensure robust, manufacturable, and high-quality solutions align with vehicle program objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design release process for mechatronic comfort & aero components (e.g., active aero systems, comfort actuators, door / window mechatronics, flap systems), from concept through production.
- Develop and maintain unit/component specifications derived from vehicle-level and system-level functional requirements.
- Create and supervise deliverables such as DFMEA, DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report), work product documentation, and change management records.
- Conduct design reviews (mechanical, electrical, thermal, mechatronic), interface with CAE/FEA teams to validate packaging, durability, and performance targets.
- Interface with Tier-1 suppliers and internal manufacturing entities to ensure design meets functional, quality, cost and timing objectives; participate in supplier selection, technical assessments, and follow-up actions.
- Drive engineering change management: raise and track Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), update EBOM/BOM records, ensure traceability through release systems.
- Support prototype builds, pre-production, and pilot vehicle builds at manufacturing sites; support launch readiness and production release.
- Investigate and lead root-cause analyses for field, warranty and quality concerns; implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage documentation in PLM and release tools (e.g., Teamcenter, NX, CAD/CAE libraries, change systems); ensure data integrity for audits.
- Collaborate in multi-discipline teams (mechanical, electrical/electronic, controls, software) to ensure system integration and align component behavior with vehicle-level functional objectives.
- Monitor project schedule, deliverables, cost and risk; report status across program milestones and escalate issues appropriately.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in automotive product development, ideally with component release, mechatronics, or comfort/aero subsystems.
- Solid understanding of mechanical CAD (e.g., NX, CATIA), electrical/electronic components, and mechatronic system integration.
- Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, BOM/EBOM, ECO processes, and PLM/release systems (e.g., Teamcenter).
- Ability to interpret 2D/3D drawings, GD&T, layouts, manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, CNC, assemblies) and integrate with electrical/mechanical subsystems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams, and effective communication (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Experience with comfort or aero systems (active aero, thermally actuated systems, comfort actuators, HVAC components, etc.).
- Knowledge of vehicle system integration, controls software/hardware interaction, and mechatronic validation testing.
- Familiarity with manufacturing launch processes, supplier management and production ramp-up support.
