Job Description

Onward Search seeks a Competitive Intelligence Manager for a global biopharmaceutical client. This 6+ month remote contract role, based in Illinois, involves leading the gathering, analysis, and dissemination of competitor information to guide strategic decisions. The manager will support commercial efforts by providing objective, in-depth, and actionable intelligence on market and competitive forces, acting as a strategic advisor to international commercial teams with expertise in competitive dynamics and how intelligence informs business strategy.
Must have:
  • Lead competitor information gathering, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Support strategic commercial efforts with objective, actionable intelligence.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to International commercial teams.
  • Analyze potential disruptive forces and market drivers.
  • Analyze healthcare dynamics, commercial trends, clinical/scientific data, and competitive insights.
  • Lead Counter Intelligence (CI) strategy for assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Translate CI deliverables into strategic recommendations.
  • Drive and execute CI plans using primary and secondary research.
  • Partner cross-functionally for clinical, medical, and regulatory perspectives.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3-5 years in pharma/biotech commercial, clinical, or consulting roles.
  • Demonstrated background in competitive intelligence or strategic consulting.
  • Strong ability to interact and present to all organizational levels.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and strategic synthesis skills.

Job Details

Competitive Intelligence Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead the process of gathering, analyzing, and disseminating information about competitors in the market to help make strategic decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Support strategic commercial efforts by providing objective, in-depth, and actionable intelligence about current and future market and competitive forces.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to International commercial teams, bringing expertise in competitive dynamics and how intelligence informs strategy.
  • Provide analysis on potential disruptive forces and market drivers.
  • Analyze healthcare dynamics, commercial trends, clinical/scientific data, and competitive insights.
  • Lead Counter Intelligence (CI) strategy for assigned therapeutic area(s).
  • Translate CI deliverables into strategic recommendations.
  • Drive and execute CI plans using primary and secondary research sources.
  • Partner cross-functionally to incorporate clinical, medical, and regulatory perspectives.

Competitive Intelligence Manager Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Life Science or related degree is a plus).
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years in the pharma/biotech industry in commercial, clinical, or consulting roles.
  • Demonstrated background in competitive intelligence or strategic consulting.
  • Strong ability to interact and present to all levels of the organization, from Product Managers to Senior Executives.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and strategic synthesis skills.
