Job Description

The Concept Artist is crucial for visual storytelling, transforming abstract ideas into vivid characters and worlds. This role involves creating concept designs for various elements, developing mood boards and detailed illustrations, and collaborating with the Art Director to visualize creative briefs. Responsibilities also include translating scripts into strong visuals, ensuring design consistency, delivering iterative sketches and polished artworks, and researching trends to enrich creative output.

Good To Have:

Previous experience with Animation/ Games/ Feature Film pipeline especially Film
Basic painting (digital or traditional) and sketching ability is preferable
Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change
Thorough knowledge of advanced matte painting techniques including colour space, digital paint techniques and Photoshop file management.
Technical proficiency in understanding photography with an emphasis on composition, depth, lighting and color.
Artists must have a sound knowledge and understanding of visual effects pipelines, production and implementation, as well as the ability to work well in a team.

Must Have:

Visual storytelling is the key task of the Concept Artist, they imagine characters and worlds from off the page and bring the story to life. If you have a talent for visualizing abstract a career as a Concept Artist could be for you!

1. Create concept designs for environments, characters, props, and visual effects elements.

2. Develop mood boards, thumbnails, and detailed illustrations to establish style and tone.

3. Work closely with the Art Director and production team to visualize creative briefs.

4. Translate scripts and storyboards into strong visual ideas.

5. Ensure consistency of design language across the project.

6. Deliver quick iterative sketches as well as polished final artworks.

7. Research references, trends, and design inspiration to enrich creative output.

Job requirements

Essential Skills:

5 year of concept experience.
Proven experience as a Concept Artist in film, games, animation, or related industries.
Strong traditional and digital illustration skills.
Proficiency in industry-standard tools: Photoshop, Procreate, Krita, or equivalent.
Strong grasp of composition, color, lighting, perspective, and anatomy.
Ability to generate both realistic and stylized designs.
Familiarity with 3D tools (Blender, ZBrush, SketchUp) for concepting is a plus.
A portfolio/demo reel that demonstrates high-quality concept work.
