Company Overview
Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing defense autonomy at sea. We develop advanced autonomous surface vessels that enhance maritime operations for the Department of Defense (DoD) through cutting-edge, intelligent platforms. Our team combines traditional marine design expertise with the latest in autonomy and system integration to accelerate innovation in national defense.
Position Summary
We are hiring a Configuration Manager focused on CAD administration and product data control. This role is responsible for managing daily PDM workflows, ensuring accurate and clean CAD data across our design tools (NX and SolidWorks), supporting drawing and change processes, and delivering complete and reliable engineering data packages into manufacturing and sustainment.
You’ll work closely with mechanical engineering, sustainment, and program teams, and coordinate with a senior PLM Systems Architect to maintain technical integrity in Teamcenter. This role will also interface with a dedicated compliance configuration manager to ensure product definition aligns with standards and customer requirements, particularly during release and technical data package handoff.
This is a hands-on role with core responsibilities in drawing control, CAD governance, and front-end PDM/PLM enhancements. You should be experienced in customizing and managing the user experience in systems like Teamcenter Active Workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support CAD workflows and model data within Teamcenter across NX and SolidWorks
- Maintain and enforce modeling standards, including master modeling practices, interface control models, PMI conventions, and best practices for parametric discipline and partmodeling efficiency
- Own the preparation and release of drawing and technical data packages, including creation of neutral files (PDF, DXF, STEP) and metadata validation
- Manage day-to-day engineering change activities: create and track ECOs, DCOs, and support part number assignments and configuration baselines
- Train and support engineers in correct Teamcenter usage, modeling standards, and data release workflows
- Implement and maintain saved queries, custom views, dashboards, and lightweight front-end automations within Active Workspace to support user productivity and compliance
- Partner with sustainment and production teams to ensure released data supports downstream usability and traceability
- Conduct regular audits of product data for completeness, revision control, and adherence to drawing and modeling practices
- Serve as technical liaison for packaging and deploying drawing sets and data for export-controlled and DoD-compliant programs
- Assist in cleanup, refactoring, and migration of legacy data as new standards and toolchains are introduced
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in CAD administration, drafting support, or configuration management
- Proficiency with Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks, with demonstrated understanding of:
- Model structuring and master modeling
- PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) and drawing generation
- Common sources of model failure (broken links, circular references, poor sketch constraints) and how to proactively prevent them
- Experience managing CAD integrations and data structures in Teamcenter or a similar PDM/PLM platform
- Familiarity with change control processes and engineering documentation workflows (ECO, DCO, baselines)
- Experience deploying and supporting technical data packages for production, vendors, or sustainment teams
- Competency in front-end PLM configuration: Active Workspace customization, saved queries, form views, workflow UI, dashboards
- Exposure to EIA-649 and ASME Y14.5 principles, with the ability to interface with compliance teams and apply standards to data packages
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and product definition integrityComfortable supporting and training users across engineering, program management, and operations
- Experience scripting lightweight automations or batch operations (e.g., Python, SQL, Power Query)
- Familiarity with version-controlled drawing practices in defense, aerospace, or maritime
- Exposure to manufacturing BOM structures or neutral file management workflows for downstream use
- Hands-on experience preparing data for audit, customer review, or controlled export materials
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional standing and walking within the office
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
- Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
- Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
- Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
This role requires access to export-controlled information or items that require “U.S. Person” status. As defined by U.S. law, individuals who are any one of the following are considered to be a “U.S. Person”: (1) U.S. citizens, (2) legal permanent residents (a.k.a. green card holders), and (3) certain protected classes of asylees and refugees, as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
