Job Summary
The Sr. Systems Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure at Nintendo Technology Development (NTD) will support and expand on-premises and off-premises cloud infrastructure for the development community. This IT role involves building and maintaining solutions in public clouds like AWS and Azure, as well as on-premises virtualization platforms such as OpenStack and Kubernetes. The engineer will ensure high availability, security, and performance of systems, working closely with DevOps and Engineering teams to deliver robust infrastructure solutions.
Must Have
- Build and maintain AWS and Azure cloud solutions.
- Manage on-premises virtualization platforms like OpenStack/OpenNebula.
- Design and manage Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Ensure high system and infrastructure availability and security.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and security compliance.
- Provide technical support and emergency response for outages.
- Document system configurations and procedures.
- Utilize Ansible, Jenkins, Python, and Bash for automation.
- 8+ years in Cloud and Linux system administration.
- Expertise in OpenStack/OpenNebula, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in server OS, KVM, Kubernetes.
Good to Have
- Expert understanding of TCP/IP, network services, and storage systems.
- Experience installing and maintaining distributed storage solutions like CEPH.
- Experience with Ubuntu/Canonical tools (MAAS, Landscape).
- Experience with Terraform, Helm, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- AWS Professional Solutions Architect certification.
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.

Job Description
SUMMARY: Sr. Systems Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure for the Nintendo Technology Development Inc. (NTD) organization will be responsible for supporting and expanding NTD’s on-premises and off-premises cloud infrastructure offerings for our development community. This role is part of our IT organization and will work closely with DevOps and Engineering teams.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Build and maintain solutions in public cloud solutions - AWS and Azure.
- Build and maintain on-premises virtualization platforms (e.g. OpenStack, OpenNebula).
- Build and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Ensure the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability. Manage system performance, monitoring, backups, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure system security by configuring firewalls, SSL, VPNs, and applying patches and updates.
- Monitor and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in a timely manner.
- Perform routine system upgrades, patching, and security compliance checks.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support for escalated issues.
- Provide emergency responses to critical outages or incidents.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for internal use.
- Research emerging tools and technologies that help improve automation, security and performance.
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures
SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years in Cloud infrastructure administration/engineering and Linux system administration/engineering.
- Expert level understanding of OpenStack/OpenNebula or similar cloud orchestration solution is required.
- Expert level understanding of designing and managing Kubernetes clusters is required.
- Expert level understanding of designing and managing solutions in AWS and Azure is required.
- Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS, KVM, Kubernetes environments is required.
- Expert level understanding of TCP/IP, network services, and storage systems is a plus.
- Experience installing and maintaining distributed storage solutions like CEPH is a strong plus.
- Automation mastery: Advanced skills in Ansible, Jenkins, Python/bash scripting.
- Experience with Ubuntu/Canonical tools like MAAS, Landscape etc. is a plus.
- Experience with Terraform, Helm, or cloud-native monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
- AWS Professional solutions architect certification is a plus.
- Azure Solutions architect expert certification is a plus.
- BS or MS in engineering, computer science, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
