The Control Systems Engineer-Machine Tool Application known internally as (Manufacturing Services Systems Engineer) is responsible for Troubleshooting, Repair, Diagnostics and calibration of a wide range of Automated and Robotic Welding Systems, CNC Machine tools, and other computer controlled equipment. This role supports the Manufacturing Services Manager, coordinating troubleshooting, fault finding, defining technical maintenance basis, and acting as technical support SMEs for automated and robotic welding systems. It involves performing system tasks, archiving software/machine parameters, and analyzing data for KPIs.
Must have:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, diagnose, and calibrate automated and robotic welding systems, CNC machine tools, and computer-controlled equipment
  • Establish and maintain archiving systems for software and machine parameters
  • Collect, organise, and analyse data for Key Performance Indicators
  • Provide technical assistance for machine or process failure, coordinating with OEM and specialists
  • Suggest improvements to work instructions for maintenance optimisation
  • Responsible for reliability engineering and implementing projects to increase machine reliability
  • Experience in a similar role (senior service, Control systems engineer, applications engineer) on automated welding systems, CNC machine tools, or transferable systems
  • Experience in root cause analysis
  • Good understanding of industry regulations and best practices of asset management and production maintenance
  • Self-motivated, amiable, energetic individual with strong cross-functional working behaviours
  • Ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Hold a Security Check (SC) clearance
  • Hold UK nationality
Good to have:
  • Experience of automated welding and/or machining processes and inputs/requirements
  • Expert in control systems and how they integrate with equipment

An exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Services Sytem Engineer role has arisen within the New Build and Components Business, in Nuclear (Submarines).

The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Manufacturing Services Manager to ensure the organisation’s objectives and goals are delivered. Take responsibility for coordinating troubleshooting, fault finding, defining the technical basis of maintenance and act as technical support SMEs for automated and robotic welding systems.

What you will be doing:

You will perform a range of system tasks across a broad range of Automated and Robotic Welding Systems, CNC Machine tools and other computer controlled equipment. Establishing and maintaining suitable archiving systems for software and machine parameters for aforementioned equipment.

  • Collect, organise, and analyse data in support of Key Performance Indicators for the Manufacturing Services Department as required.
  • Provide technical assistance relating to machine or process failure to other supporting service functions. Coordinate with OEM and machine specialists. If requested support other business units within the company and any manufacturing suppliers to the company.
  • Suggest improvements to work instructions to optimise the maintenance strategy and be responsible for defining the technical basis of maintenance.
  • Responsible for reliability engineering and identifying and implementing projects to increase machine reliability and in turn an uplift in availability of equipment.

  • Experience in root cause analysis and eliminating or reducing such occurrences.
  • Good understanding of industry regulations and best practices of asset management and production maintenance.
  • Self-motivated, amiable, energetic individual with strong cross function working behaviours and the ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organisation.

Desirable

  • Have experience of automated welding and or machining processes and inputs/requirements.
  • An expert in control systems and how they integrate with equipment.

To work for the company Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. The company will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
