Job Summary
Discord is seeking a Data Scientist, Analytics for its Ads organization to build robust reporting infrastructure. This role involves creating comprehensive campaign performance reports, executive dashboards, and automated monitoring systems. The Data Scientist will partner with Data Engineering, empower various teams with self-serve data assets, and contribute to business reviews, ensuring data-driven decisions and optimizing advertiser success and product development.
Must Have
- Build and scale comprehensive campaign performance reporting

- 3+ years of data science analytics experience in ads tech, digital marketing analytics, or business intelligence
- Excellent SQL skills
- 3+ years building production dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or similar BI tools
- Deep familiarity with campaign reporting metrics (CPM, CTR, conversion rates, attribution windows, ROAS)
- Understanding of ads delivery fundamentals (impression tracking, fill rates, inventory management, pacing algorithms)
- Strong attention to detail with ability to QA own work
- Clear communication skills for documenting metrics and training users
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and delivery timelines
- Collaborative mindset with track record of supporting cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Excel/Sheets for ad-hoc analysis

- Active Discord user or deep knowledge of gaming and creator communities
- Experience with marketing analytics platforms and ads serving infrastructure
- Background in marketplace/inventory analytics or supply-side platform reporting
- Python/R skills for data manipulation and automation

You'll be instrumental in establishing the operational backbone that enables hundreds of stakeholders to make data-driven decisions with confidence and speed.
You'll be embedded within our Ads organization, working closely with Data Engineering and cross-functional partners to build robust reporting systems that scale. This role reports to the Director of Data Science, Analytics for Ads. What You'll Be Doing
- Build and scale comprehensive campaign performance reporting that enables advertisers and internal teams to track ROI, attribution, and key performance metrics with confidence
- Design executive dashboards that provide clear visibility into marketplace health, inventory utilization, and fill rate trends for leadership decision-making
- Partner closely with Data Engineering to define new metrics, ensure data quality, and develop robust pipelines that support reporting at scale
- Build automated monitoring and alerting systems that catch performance issues and campaign pacing anomalies before they impact revenue
- Empower Sales, Account Management, and Product teams by creating self-serve data assets in BigQuery and Looker that drive faster, better decisions
- Develop comprehensive documentation and training materials that enable analytics self-service across 100+ internal stakeholders
- Contribute to weekly business and metric reviews with clear visualizations of performance trends, anomalies, and actionable insights that drive optimization
What you should have
- 3+ years of data science analytics experience in ads tech, digital marketing analytics, or business intelligence
- Excellent SQL skills with experience writing complex queries against large-scale datasets and optimizing for performance
- 3+ years building production dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or similar BI tools with focus on usability and performance
- Deep familiarity with campaign reporting metrics: CPM, CTR, conversion rates, attribution windows, and ROAS
- Understanding of ads delivery fundamentals: impression tracking, fill rates, inventory management, and pacing algorithms
- Strong attention to detail with ability to QA your own work and identify data anomalies before they reach stakeholders
- Clear communication skills for documenting metric definitions, training users, and translating business needs into reporting solutions
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining consistent delivery timelines
- Collaborative mindset with track record of supporting cross-functional teams effectively
- Proficiency in Excel/Sheets for ad-hoc analysis and rapid prototyping

_The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 to $180,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
