This Data Scientist role in the Consumer Marketing team focuses on advancing online gaming analytics for King's 300 million+ players. You will collaborate with the network team to optimize marketing efforts for player acquisition and partner with game teams to boost player engagement. Responsibilities include identifying business opportunities, applying statistical analysis and predictive modeling for insights, developing models for user acquisition and retention, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive marketing strategy and ensure proper A/B test implementation and data tracking.

Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable Data Scientist to join our Consumer Marketing team. In this role, you will collaborate with the network team to advance online gaming analytics, focusing on both marketing efforts (attracting more players) and partnering with game teams to boost player engagement.

Your role within our Kingdom

If you're passionate about enhancing the experience of King’s 300 million+ players across our network of games and want to help us better understand, model, predict, segment, monetize, and retain our customers, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. You'll join a community of over 100 business intelligence, analytics, and data science experts, collaborating closely with various teams across the company to develop your skills and grow your expertise.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Identifying potential business opportunities within your area and designing strategies to capture them.
  • Applying statistical analysis and predictive modelling to uncover actionable insights related to user acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Supporting the Consumer Marketing team by developing models and analytical data products to optimize user acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Collaborating with a cross-functional team, including media buyers, strategy, product, and business analytics, to drive King's marketing strategy. Translating business needs into technical requirements and A/B tests, working with development teams to ensure proper implementation, including tracking the right data for easy and accurate impact analysis.
  • Diligently checking, debugging, and resolving issues to deliver precise and clear analysis and reports swiftly, even when faced with complex data challenges.

You have a passion for quantitative analysis and the ability to draw business insights that will add real value to King. You will need to demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and work in a fast paced and collaborative environment whilst communicating effectively with teams and individuals across King such as Game Developers, Business Performance Managers and Marketeers.

While we certainly don’t expect you to have all these skills from day one, we do expect you to learn and develop in each of the following key areas:

  • Domain Knowledge: Solid experience in a data science role, ideally with a focus on marketing analytics.
  • Business Insight: The ability to deeply understand the challenges our games and business face, and to independently identify the right data, analysis, or interpretations to inform accurate recommendations and decisions.
  • SQL: Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries to analyse databases with over 300 million players, and work with cloud-based relational database systems.
  • Analytical Coding: Experience using tools such as R, Python (and Excel) for analytical purposes.
  • Statistics: Knowledge of when and how to apply the appropriate statistical or machine learning techniques in different situations. Bonus: Proven experience in building marketing mix models and conducting geo experiments.
  • Communication: The ability to design effective ways to communicate, visualize, or report your analysis and results in a clear and straightforward manner.
