Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer with deep expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL, along with strong software engineering capabilities. You will design, implement, optimize, and maintain our database infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability across mission-critical systems. This role involves collaborating with software engineers, DevOps, and data architects to build robust, automated, and secure data solutions, supporting applications and business intelligence needs.
Must have:
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-performance Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing strategies.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate databases into applications and services.
  • Design and implement database schemas and perform data modeling.
  • Develop database automation scripts and tools using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimize database instances.
  • Design and implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Monitor database health and security, implement standard methodologies, and resolve issues.
  • 5+ years of experience in database engineering or administration roles.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Java, Go, or C++.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Deep understanding of database internals, indexing, replication, partitioning, and transaction control.
  • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments.
Good to have:
  • Experience with cloud database services.
  • Experience with ETL tools or frameworks (e.g., Apache NiFi, Airflow, Talend).
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps culture.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or similar PostgreSQL certification.

About the team and the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer with deep expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL, along with strong software engineering capabilities, to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining our database infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability across mission critical systems.

You will collaborate closely with software engineers, DevOps, and data architects to build robust, automated, and secure data solutions that support our applications and business intelligence needs.

What you will accomplish:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-performance Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing strategies.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate databases into applications and services.
  • Design and implement database schemas and perform data modeling for new and existing systems.
  • Develop database automation scripts and tools using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimize database instances.
  • Design and implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Migrate data between Oracle and PostgreSQL databases as needed.
  • Monitor database health and security, implement standard methodologies, and resolve issues.
  • Maintain documentation of database architecture, procedures, and standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, database design sessions, and sprint planning.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database engineering or administration roles.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills; experience with PostgreSQL functions and extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pg_partman).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Java, Go, or C++.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Deep understanding of database internals, indexing, replication, partitioning, and transaction control.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Oracle Enterprise Manager).
  • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud database services.
  • Experience with ETL tools or frameworks (e.g., Apache NiFi, Airflow, Talend).
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps culture.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or similar PostgreSQL certification is a plus.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$115,200 - $199,700

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
