Job Description

As a Backend Developer, you will be a part of the Enterprise Data Solutions team contributing to the DataScope suite. You will work on building and maintaining scalable, high-performance systems that support real-time and reference data delivery. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and supporting backend features based on product requirements, enhancing system stability, maintainability, and performance, collaborating with support teams to resolve client issues, staying current with C++ standards and emerging technologies, and documenting development processes.
Must have:
  • Proficiency in C++ (C++98 and C++11)
  • Experience with SQL and JSON
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with enterprise-scale applications on Unix/Linux platforms
Good to have:
  • Experience with modern development practices (Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, BDD)
  • Familiarity with LUA
  • Experience with Financial market data
  • Experience with cloud-native development

Role Overview: Backend Developer (C++) – Enterprise Data Solutions

Join our Enterprise Data Solutions team as a Backend Developer, where you’ll contribute to the DataScope suite—an essential tool used by over 4,000 clients in the financial industry to access and analyze market data. You’ll help build and maintain scalable, high-performance systems that support real-time and reference data delivery across asset classes.

What You’ll Bring

Core Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in C++ (preferably both C++98 and C++11)
  • Familiarity with related languages such as C, Java, or Python
  • Experience with SQL and JSON
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and design pragmatic, scalable solutions
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modern development practices (Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, BDD, Infrastructure as Code)
  • Familiarity with:
    • LUA
    • Linux/Unix administration
    • ActiveMQ
    • JDK
    • ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
    • Financial market data
    • Cloud-native development

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in C++ software development (C++ certification is a plus)
  • Experience developing enterprise-scale applications on Unix/Linux platforms
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • SOAP/REST APIs
    • JSON and XML
    • SQL and scripting in Linux/Unix
    • SSH and version control systems (e.g., Git, Mercurial)
    • Integration technologies (e.g., message queues, ESB)
    • Real-time or low-latency applications handling high data volumes
    • Experience with LSEG’s DataScope suite is a strong advantage but not required.

  • Design, implement, and support backend features based on product requirements
  • Enhance system stability, maintainability, and performance
  • Collaborate with support teams to troubleshoot and resolve client issues
  • Work closely with peers to design scalable, maintainable software solutions
  • Stay current with C++ standards and emerging technologies
  • Document development processes and maintain technical records
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
