Job Description

The Design Manager for Existing Fleet Innovations at Apple's Places team will focus on enhancing current retail stores worldwide. This role involves analyzing, researching, and creating new architectural components and design solutions for both sales and backstage environments. The manager will drive design options and deliverables, collaborating with cross-functional partners to generate efficient, thoughtful, and relevant solutions for Apple's existing store fleet, ensuring they meet evolving customer and team needs.

Must Have:
  • Develop innovative design concepts for specific architectural components, systems, details and create work product for internal approval reviews
  • Directly manage diverse team of external Architectural and Engineering consultants and vendors to create and maintain documentation and work product that will inform the prototypical documentation used across all existing store projects
  • Collaborate on individual design initiatives and find innovative strategies to streamline and assist incorporation into Retail Standards
  • Understand and interpret local and international building codes, integrating comprehensive design solutions that are compliant with local and or international building codes
  • Work directly with RE&D team members consisting of teams from Development, Preservation, Facilities, and Pre-Construction experts
  • Work cross-functionally with internal Apple groups outside of RDM to integrate new initiatives for exiting stores worldwide
  • Contribute to strategic thinking and innovative development of improvements for exiting store designs across all existing store types
  • 10+ years of architecture and construction industry experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10 %
  • Professional degree in architecture or construction management
  • Demonstrate flexible thinking and creative problem solving within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and finalize projects effectively and independently
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills required to develop strong working relationships across business groups and key stakeholders

Existing Fleet Innovations group will focus on ensuring our current stores worldwide, across all Vintages, are well positioned to serve the changing needs of our customers and our store teams. We will analyze, research, and create key new architectural components and compelling design solutions in the complete store environment including both sales areas and backstage environments. Key primary goal will be to Innovate and drive design options and design deliverables with input from our cross functional partners at Real Estate & Development to generate efficient, thoughtful, and relevant solutions for our existing fleet of store in a timely manner.

The Design Manager will create, document, and manage design solutions for ongoing upgrades and revisions to the exiting fleet of stores worldwide. You'll engage directly with Development, Preservation, Facilities partners and all internal cross functional Places Team disciplines to generate efficient, thoughtful, and relevant design solutions for the exiting fleet of stores.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,300 and $263,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
