Job Description

The Director, Global Security Systems will lead the strategy, implementation, and operation of Sony Pictures Entertainment's global physical security technology infrastructure, including access control, video surveillance, and alarm systems. This role involves developing a secure environment, ensuring scalability, aligning with business objectives, and driving convergence between physical and logical security. The director will also manage a high-performing team, oversee vendor relationships, ensure compliance, and leverage emerging technologies like AI and IoT to enhance security operations.
Must have:
  • Define and execute a comprehensive vision for SPE’s physical security systems globally.
  • Design, manage and track the lifecycle of security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management and GSOC support systems.
  • Oversee integration of physical security systems with broader enterprise platforms (e.g., IT, HR, Facilities).
  • Act as the subject matter expert for security systems during audits, investigations, and incident response.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of global security systems professionals.
  • Partner with external vendors to evaluate, implement, and maintain best-in-class security solutions.
  • Ensure security systems meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to identify and address vulnerabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, IoT, predictive analytics, and cloud-based solutions to enhance security operations and threat detection.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 12+ years of experience in physical security technology or a related field, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience designing and managing large-scale security systems in a corporate or enterprise environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of access control systems (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Software House), video surveillance platforms, visitor management systems, alarm systems and GSOC support systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and track global programs and work effectively across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Expertise in project management, with a history of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Highly organized with extreme attention towards data tracking and presenting.
Good to have:
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), PSP (Physical Security Professional) or CPP (Certified Protection Professional).
  • Experience consolidating physical and logical security systems through integrations and automations.
  • Experience implementing a GSOC support model including PSIM development.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
  • Strong understanding of emerging trends in security technology, including AI, IoT, and cloud-based solutions.

Job Details

Reporting to the Vice President, Security Operations and Security Technology, the Director, Global Security Systems will oversee the strategy, implementation, and operation of SPE’s global physical security technology infrastructure. This includes access control systems, video surveillance, alarm systems, GSOC support systems and other cutting-edge security technologies. As a critical leader within the Corporate Security team, this individual will develop and maintain a secure environment across all SPE and affiliate locations while ensuring scalability and alignment with business objectives. This role will also drive convergence between physical and logical security systems, leveraging emerging technologies to create a cohesive and innovative security framework.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and execute a comprehensive vision for SPE’s physical security systems globally.
  • Align security technology strategy with corporate goals and One Sony initiatives, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and alignment with future growth including operational and strategic support for other Sony operating companies as needed.

Program Development & Oversight:

  • Design, manage and track the lifecycle of security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management and GSOC support systems.
  • Working directly with IT, oversee integration of physical security systems with broader enterprise platforms (e.g., IT, HR, Facilities).
  • Design data visualization strategies and utilize analytics from security systems to identify trends, optimize operations, and support data-driven decision-making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • This role will function as an extreme collaborator and relationship builder.
  • Partner with teams within Security, Safety and Sustainability (S3), as well as IT, Facilities, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of security systems into business operations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for security systems during audits, investigations, and incident response.
  • Drive convergence between physical and logical security systems to create a cohesive security infrastructure.

Team Leadership:

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of global security systems professionals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, training, continuous improvement, innovation, and inclusivity.

Vendor Management:

  • Adopting a Sony first approach, partner with external vendors to evaluate, implement, and maintain best-in-class security solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance to ensure cost-effective, efficient and timely delivery.
  • Constantly monitor external spend and maintain efficient standards related to third party vs internal coverage.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure security systems meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to identify and address vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and maintain protocols for leveraging security systems during emergencies, incidents, and investigations.
  • Develop dashboards and tracking protocols for work performed to ensure proper metrics and reporting via internal QBR’s.

Emerging Technology:

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, IoT, predictive analytics, and cloud-based solutions to enhance security operations and threat detection.
  • Stay ahead of trends and innovations in security technology to ensure SPE’s systems remain cutting-edge.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:
