The Distribution Sales and Research Trainee is a dual support role, splitting responsibilities equally between the US Syndication Sales and North America Distribution Research teams. Based in Culver City, California, the role involves assisting sales supervisors, managing contracts, tracking program schedules, collecting and analyzing ratings data, and providing project support. Administrative duties include managing accounts payable, coordinating travel, and creating presentations, requiring strong organizational and communication skills.

Job Details

The Distribution Sales and Research Trainee is a dual support role with equal responsibilities (50/50 split) across both the US Syndication Sales and the North America Distribution Research teams. The role is based in the Culver City Studio office and will report directly to the SVP, Head of syndication sales and the VP of North America Distribution Research. While there are some distinct department-specific responsibilities for each group, there are many similar administrative functions needed across both departments.

Key Responsibilities for Sales Department:

  • Assist Supervisor (LA - SVP, Head of Syndication Sales) and Regional Director’s day-to-day activities
  • Screen telephone calls, incoming mail, publications, and other correspondence
  • Set up and maintain files and records which may contain confidential information for Syndication Sales team
  • Write, distribute and track all contracts at direction of Sales Executives
  • Maintain Contact Management System
  • Manage program schedules and track time period discrepancies for requested markets
  • Act as liaison between Sales Administration and Distribution Sales

Key Responsibilities for Research Department:

  • Collect, distribute and report ratings/streaming data
  • Track availability and performance of content across distribution platforms
  • Research additional information on web and across other resources
  • Data analysis, data visualization and insights generation
  • Project support for the greater Research team

Administrative Responsibilities Needed Across Both Departments:

  • Mange accounts payable
  • Coordinate travel arrangements
  • Track expenses and submit expense reports
  • Coordinate meetings
  • Create presentations
  • Coordinate with IT to troubleshoot any issues with hardware, software and all applications
  • Order supplies as necessary

Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Professional work experience (in media and entertainment a plus)
  • Proficiency with Office Applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams
  • Must be adaptable/flexible, highly-organized, able to multi-task: coordinate and prioritize multiple workstreams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to and work well with others; flexing between individual and support roles as necessary
  • Comfortable working in a matrix environment
  • Proactive, problem-solver and demonstrate confidentiality.
  • Must be highly detail-oriented, reliable and always maintain data integrity
  • Must be curious, ask questions, driven to find answers / solutions and seek out alternate workarounds when necessary
  • Familiarity with television, media metrics and methodologies across all platforms a plus
  • Familiarity with analytics tools like Tableau, Google Analytics and Omniture also a plus
