Job Summary

The Director, HRIS is a global leader responsible for the strategic direction, design, governance, and optimization of the Company’s HR technology ecosystem, primarily Workday. This role ensures HR technology aligns with enterprise-wide HR strategy, drives process excellence, and delivers a unified, scalable platform across all geographies, including close partnership with Mexico. Reporting to the SVP of Total Rewards & People Operations, this leader maximizes technology investments, accelerates automation, expands self-service, and improves employee and manager experience.

Must Have

  • Define and own the global HR technology strategy, with Workday as the core HCM platform.
  • Develop a multi-year roadmap for Workday and HR applications.
  • Serve as Workday product owner across all modules (HCM, Talent, Benefits, Compensation, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, etc.).
  • Lead the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of enhancements, releases, and new functionality.
  • Drive global process standardization across the U.S. and Mexico.
  • Oversee Workday security, access governance, and data protection.
  • Own the end-to-end HR systems architecture, ensuring Workday serves as the system of record.
  • Supervise integration design and performance in partnership with IT and vendors.
  • Create global data governance frameworks, including data standards, definitions, stewardship, and quality controls.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all HR technology matters across HR COEs, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and IT.
  • Partner closely with Mexico’s HRIS and HR leadership to harmonize processes and build a unified global HRIS operating model.
  • Lead complex HR technology projects, including Workday implementations, module rollouts, enhancements, and M&A-related deployments.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing HRIS team.
  • Manage relationships with Workday and all HR technology vendors and partners.
  • Ensure systems and processes meet U.S. and global legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the HR reporting and analytics framework.
  • Enable self-service capabilities for employees, managers, and HR teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR technology/HRIS/HR Operations experience with ownership of enterprise HCM systems.
  • 7+ years of deep Workday experience, including hands-on configuration and/or product ownership of multiple modules.
  • 5+ years leading HRIS teams and complex technology projects in global or matrixed environments.
  • Proven experience partnering with HR COEs and IT to deploy scalable solutions.
  • Experience with HR/payroll/timekeeping/finance system integrations and global process alignment.

Good to Have

  • Master’s degree in business, HR, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Mexico or LATAM experience in HR/payroll/timekeeping/finance system integrations.
  • Workday Pro or Workday module-specific certifications.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).

ABOUT THE ROLE AND TEAM:

The Director, HRIS is the global owner of the Company’s HR technology ecosystem, responsible for setting the strategic direction, design, governance, and optimization of Workday and all related HR systems. This leader ensures that HR technology enables our enterprise-wide HR strategy, drives process excellence, and delivers a unified and scalable platform across all geographies, including close partnership with Mexico to strengthen synergies, align processes, and move toward a unified global HRIS operating model.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Total Rewards & People Operations, this leader partners extensively with Benefits, People Operations, Compensation, Labor Relations, HR Business Partners, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and IT. This role is accountable for maximizing the value of our technology investments, accelerating automation, expanding self-service, and delivering innovative solutions that improve employee and manager experience.

This position is ideal for a hands-on, strategic HR technology leader with deep Workday expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to influence at all levels from executives to configuration teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Technology Strategy and Roadmap

  • Define and own the global HR technology strategy, with Workday as the core HCM platform, ensuring alignment with HR and business priorities.
  • Develop a multi-year roadmap for Workday and HR applications, integrating both U.S. and Mexico requirements toward one global HRIS framework.
  • Identify and implement technology innovations that enhance efficiency, compliance, and user experience.
  • Build business cases and lead approvals for new capabilities, enhancements, or system investments.

Workday Ownership and Optimization

  • Serve as Workday product owner across all modules (HCM, Talent, Benefits, Compensation, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, etc.).
  • Lead the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of enhancements, releases, and new functionality in partnership with IT and functional COEs.
  • Drive global process standardization—particularly across the U.S. and Mexico—while balancing local compliance needs.
  • Oversee Workday security, access governance, and data protection.
  • Establish controls and audit mechanisms to maintain data quality and system integrity.

HR Systems Architecture, Integrations and Data Governance

  • Own the end-to-end HR systems architecture, ensuring Workday serves as the system of record and integrates effectively with payroll, finance, timekeeping, benefits, and downstream systems.
  • Supervise integration design and performance in partnership with IT and vendors.
  • Create global data governance frameworks, including data standards, definitions, stewardship, and quality controls.
  • Partner with IT on infrastructure, identity management, cybersecurity, and incident response processes.

Global Cross-Functional Partnership and Governance

  • Act as the central point of contact for all HR technology matters across HR COEs, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and IT.
  • Partner closely with Mexico’s HRIS and HR leadership to harmonize processes, align configurations, and build one unified global HRIS operating model.
  • Translate business requirements into system solutions through clear documentation and governance.
  • Advise HR COEs on leveraging Workday to streamline processes, increase automation, and improve policy execution.

Project and Program

  • Lead complex HR technology projects, including Workday implementations, module rollouts, enhancements, and M&A-related deployments.
  • Drive project plans, timelines, budgets, resources, testing, cutover, and post-production support.
  • Ensure disciplined change management, adoption, communication, and training strategies.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing HRIS team (internal and external) composed of Workday experts, analysts, and project managers.
  • Establish a customer-centric culture focused on partnership, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear objectives, performance metrics, and individual development plans.

Vendor, Budget and Contract Management

  • Manage relationships with Workday and all HR technology vendors and partners.
  • Oversee contracts, SLAs, and statements of work to ensure quality delivery and optimal cost.
  • Manage and optimize the HR technology budget with transparency and value realization.

Compliance, Risk Management and Internal Controls

  • Ensure systems and processes meet U.S. and global legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., data privacy, labor laws).
  • Partner with Internal Audit, Legal, Labor Relations, and Compliance to mitigate risk and address audit findings.
  • Maintain strong internal controls for system access, change management, and data security.

Analytics, Insights & Self-Service Enablement

  • Oversee the HR reporting and analytics framework, ensuring that data is accurate, actionable, and accessible.
  • Enable self-service capabilities for employees, managers, and HR teams to reduce manual dependency and drive operational excellence.
  • Promote data-driven decision making and develop dashboards and insights aligned with HR and business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in business, HR, Information Systems, or related discipline preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive HR technology/HRIS/HR Operations experience with ownership of enterprise HCM systems.
  • 7+ years of deep Workday experience, including hands-on configuration and/or product ownership of multiple modules.
  • 5+ years leading HRIS teams and complex technology projects in global or matrixed environments.
  • Proven experience partnering with HR COEs and IT to deploy scalable solutions.
  • Experience with HR/payroll/timekeeping/finance system integrations and global process alignment—Mexico or LATAM experience strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Expert-level knowledge of Workday configuration, business processes, security, integrations, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes across the employee lifecycle (hire-to-retire).
  • Familiarity with APIs, EIBs, web services, and middleware technologies.
  • Experience with reporting tools, analytics frameworks, and dashboard creation.
  • Proficiency with project management methodologies (Agile or Hybrid).

Preferred Certifications

  • Workday Pro or Workday module-specific certifications.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
