Job Summary
Playstudios is seeking a talented Director of Economy to join their largest studio's management team. This role involves designing and optimizing the in-game economy, managing a team of game economists, analyzing player behavior data, balancing the economy, segmenting players for personalization, collaborating with LiveOps for promotions, and conducting A/B tests to enhance game experience and monetization.
Must Have
- Build and manage in-game economy, currency systems, pricing models, and reward structures
- Manage a team of game economists, providing training, mentorship, and leadership
- Collect, analyze, and interpret player behavior data for strategic decision-making
- Implement data-driven adjustments for sustainable economy balance
- Develop advanced player segmentation models for targeted strategies
- Partner with LiveOps to design personalized offers, events, and promotions
- Design and run A/B tests to measure impact of economy changes and features
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Proven experience in game economy design and/or data analysis within gaming or a related industry
- Strong grasp of virtual economies, free-to-play models, and in-game monetization mechanics
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data tools and methodologies
- Passion for games, with a deep understanding of player motivations, behaviors, and industry trends
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights

Playstudios is a visionary social gaming company that brings millions of people together to play, meet, and interact. We’re looking for a talented Director of Economy to join our largest studio’s management team.
Responsibilities:
1. Economy Design & Optimization – Build and manage the in-game economy, including our currency systems, pricing models, and reward structures, focusing on enhancing game experience and growing monetization.
2. Team management – manage a team of game economists, provide professional training, mentorship and leadership.
3. Data Analysis & Behavioral Insights – Collect, analyze, and interpret player behavior across multiple data sources to drive strategic decision-making.
4. Dynamic Economy Balancing – Implement data-driven adjustments to maintain a sustainable balance between fun gameplay and business objectives.
5. Player Segmentation & Personalization – Develop advanced segmentation models based on behavior, preferences, and spending patterns to enable targeted strategies.
6. Collaboration with LiveOps – Partner with LiveOps to design personalized offers, events, and promotions that maximize engagement and monetization
7. Experimentation & Testing – Design and run A/B tests and other controlled experiments to measure the impact of economy changes, new features, and promotional strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in game economy design and/or data analysis within gaming or a related industry.
- Strong grasp of virtual economies, free-to-play models, and in-game monetization mechanics.
