Must have:
  • Manage performance for around 10 engineers, including leads.
  • Collaborate with directors to align team growth strategy to business needs.
  • Collaborate with technical directors to define and drive engineering standards.
  • Establish and maintain studio processes for code reviews and professional development.
  • Grow other leaders for the team, both people managers and individual contributors.
  • Create and cultivate an environment of continuous learning and development.
  • Keep code skills sharp and stay abreast of evolving tech in the gaming industry.
  • Strong experience building, leading, and growing teams.
  • Excellent programming skills in C++/C#, knowledgeable in scripting languages.
  • Expert experience with software and game development pipelines.
  • Ability to communicate with customers of different technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Champion team needs and methodologies, lead improvements.
  • Passionate video game enthusiast.
Good to have:
  • Strong engine experience (Unreal, Unity, or custom engines)
  • Scripting languages (Lua, Perl, Python)
  • Working experience in multiplayer gaming
  • Source control experience (GitHub, Perforce, SVN)
  • Familiarity with AI, data manipulation, file systems, networking, streaming

What We Need

2K Publishing's Global Service Technology (GST) group is looking for a passionate Engineering Manager who has a high bar for code quality and a desire to grow engineers. In this role you will build and develop the technical and communication skillsets of your team through training, collaboration and mentorship; you will formalize processes to bolster individual development and foster a culture of innovation.

What You'll Do

  • Manage performance for around 10 engineers, including leads, and be a strong partner with each on their growth objectives
  • Collaborate with directors and above to align team growth strategy to business needs
  • Collaborate with technical directors to define and drive adoption of engineering standards and what good looks like
  • Establish and maintain studio processes around code reviews, positive feedback loops and professional development initiatives
  • Grow other leaders for the team, both people managers and individual contributors
  • Create and cultivating an environment of continuous learning and development, collaborating with other studio leads to provide practical opportunities to explore new technology
  • Keep code skills sharp and stay abreast of evolving tech in the gaming industry

Required Experience and Skills

  • Strong experience building, leading, and growing teams
  • Excellent programming skills in C++/C#, knowledgeable in scripting languages
  • Expert experience with software and game development pipelines
  • Ability to communicate with customers of different technical and non-technical backgrounds to help them navigate the technology and achieve their goals
  • Champion team needs and methodologies, lead improvements on behalf of the group
  • Passionate video game enthusiast
  • 10+ years developing and publishing console games

Bonus Qualifications

  • Strong engine experience (Unreal, Unity, or custom engines)

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $120,600 and $178,500 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program. Regular, full-time employees are also eligible for a range of benefits at the Company, including: medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage; 14 paid holidays per calendar year; paid vacation time per calendar year (ranging from 15 to 25 days) or eligibility to participate in the Company’s discretionary time off program; up to 10 paid sick days per calendar year; paid parental and compassionate leave; wellbeing programs for mental health and other wellness support; family planning support through Maven; commuter benefits; and reimbursements for fitness-related expenses.
