Engineering Manager for B2B Platform

Groupon is undergoing a transformation with an AI-first strategy. This Engineering Manager role for Deal Management involves leading a diverse team of 5-6 engineers across EMEA and India. The manager will be hands-on, developing in TypeScript, Python, and React, while owning the architecture and evolution of AI-powered B2B platforms. Key responsibilities include modernizing legacy Java services to cloud-native solutions on GCP, automating deal and merchant onboarding with AI, and collaborating globally to deliver significant business impact.

Must Have

• Build and lead a high-performing, diverse team (5–6 engineers) across EMEA and India.
• Actively develop alongside your team in TypeScript (Encore), Python (AI agents), and React.
• Own the design and evolution of AI-powered agent platform, incorporating RAG pipelines, vector stores, and robust evaluation frameworks.
• Shape migration from legacy Java services to modern, cloud-native solutions (GCP).
• Overhaul critical workflows, automate deal and merchant onboarding with AI.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, UX, and senior engineering leaders.
• Champion AI Innovation and leverage AI tools every day.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years leading teams.
• Strong hands-on backend knowledge: TypeScript/Node.js, Java.
• Experience designing, building or integrating AI agents: RAG pipelines, vector databases, frameworks.
• Confident shipping modern web apps (React), distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred).
• Adept at translating business priorities into technical roadmaps.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast, iterating, and modernizing legacy systems.

Good to Have

• Python for AI/ML is a plus.
• Experience integrating AI into e-commerce, B2B SaaS, or platform environments.
• Experience working on globally distributed teams.
• Experience in scale-up/start-up or high-growth environments.

🤓 What We Look For

• 8+ years of software engineering experience; 2+ years leading teams (ideally in scale-up/start-up or high-growth environments).
• Strong hands-on backend knowledge: TypeScript/Node.js, Java; Python for AI/ML is a plus.
• Experience designing, building or integrating AI agents: RAG pipelines, vector databases, frameworks (LangChain, LangSmith, etc.).
• Confident shipping modern web apps (React), distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred).
• Communicator & Builder—adept at translating business priorities into technical roadmaps, making the complex simple for diverse stakeholders.
• Builder’s Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast, iterating, and modernizing legacy systems.
• Bonus: Experience integrating AI into e-commerce, B2B SaaS, or platform environments; worked on globally distributed teams.
