Job Summary

Envoy is seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure / DevOps Manager to oversee the infrastructure, DevOps, and security of its platform. The role involves creating a scalable, reliable, and secure cloud platform using technologies like Kubernetes, Terraform, Istio, Pulumi, and AWS Cloud, with a focus on infrastructure as code. The manager will also enhance the developer experience by providing tools for infrastructure and application deployment. Must Have

  • Lead infrastructure team to architect cloud-based solutions
  • Manage and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure
  • Manage and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform
  • Coordinate infrastructure incident and outage response
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • 3+ years in a managerial capacity
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Pulumi
  • Mastery of CI/CD tools like Github Actions, ArgoCD
  • Deep understanding of network architectures, software engineering, web technologies, SQL / NoSQL databases, and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in Go, Python, or Ruby, as well as bash
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, Grafana and Prometheus
  • Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills

  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • SOC2 and/or ISO27001 compliance and audit experience
  • Experience working with security engineering and vulnerability management
  • Experience negotiating and managing relationships with cloud service providers and tooling vendors

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Infrastructure / DevOps Manager. You will be responsible for overseeing the infrastructure, devops, and security of Envoy’s infrastructure platform.

We utilize cutting-edge technologies, including Kubernetes, Terraform, Istio, Pulumi, and AWS Cloud, to automate our infrastructure and deliver reliable applications efficiently. By using infrastructure as code, we ensure that our platform is always consistent and up-to-date.

In addition to supporting our core Infrastructure, we also aim to provide an excellent experience for our number one internal customer: the developer. Our platform provides an easy way to create and manage infrastructure and all aspects related to application deployment.

This onsite position requires 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ office.

You will

  • Lead our infrastructure team to architect cloud-based solutions that meet the needs of our business. This includes working with application teams in designing and deploying services in the cloud.
  • Manage and maintain our Kubernetes infrastructure. This includes optimizing cluster resource usage, cluster monitoring, and troubleshooting Kubernetes issues.
  • Manage and maintain our AWS infrastructure using Terraform. This includes provisioning and managing AWS resources, automating AWS infrastructure changes, and monitoring AWS infrastructure performance.
  • Coordinate infrastructure incident and outage response. This includes identifying and resolving incidents, communicating with customers and stakeholders during incidents, and effective post-mortem management.

You have

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
