Job Summary
The Executive Producer supervises news content across all media platforms for a specific daypart. This role involves overseeing the editorial process for stories, managing a team of producers, defining strategic direction for content, approving stories and scripts, and collaborating with reporters and anchors. The Executive Producer also leads during breaking news, works on special projects, recruits and schedules producers, and executes strategies to engage audiences. Collaboration with the Marketing Department on news promos is also key.
Must Have
- Oversee editorial process for stories in multiple newscasts and digital platforms
- Manage team of producers and productions of newscasts
- Define strategic direction for content coverage to meet editorial objectives
- Approve stories and scripts in newscasts
- Work with Reporters and Anchors in developing stories and social media presence
- Lead team in breaking news situations
- Work on special projects as assigned
- Recruit, hire and schedule producers along with other Executive Producers
- Execute strategies that engage and grow audiences across all platforms
- Collaborate with Marketing Department on the daily execution of news promos
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, TV/film or the equivalent
- At least 5 years’ experience in television or radio broadcast/production
- Must be able to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production and engineering staff
- Detail oriented
- Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills
- Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations
- Utilize state-of-the-art television technology
