Job Description

TransPerfect Tokyo office is seeking a Final Eye Specialist. This crucial role involves the final stage of translation/localization projects, focusing on proofreading and ensuring compliance with quality standards and client requirements. Responsibilities include understanding quality standards, managing time effectively, communicating feedback, utilizing supplemental materials, and delivering projects on client platforms.

Must Have:
  • Understand TransPerfect’s quality standards and client expectations.
  • Have a keen eye for detail, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly.
  • Be able to work comfortably in MS Office and PDF formats.
  • Consult with Project Managers to discuss client expectations or specifications.
  • Properly utilize all appropriate supplemental materials (style guides, reference material, glossaries, etc.).
  • Proofread all documents with a strong focus on names, numbers, missing text, punctuation/spelling, grammar, adherence to instructions, proper use of glossaries/translation memory/reference materials or other significant issues.
  • Provide feedback to Project Managers or others involved in the project.
  • File Compliance Reports as needed to document issues and drive improvement.
  • Deliver projects to the client on the client’s preferred platform, ensuring all necessary files and guidelines are followed.
  • Japanese native level speaker with conversational level English skill.
  • Attention to detail.

  • Exceptional problem solving/critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, focus and result-orientation under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Proofread all documents with a strong focus on names, numbers, missing text, punctuation/spelling, grammar, adherence to instructions, proper use of glossaries/translation memory/reference materials or other significant issues.
  • Provide feedback to Project Managers or others who are involved in the project.
  • File Compliance Reports as needed to document issues and drive improvement.
  • Deliver projects to the client on the client’s preferred platform, making sure that the delivery includes all the necessary files and follows the client’s guidelines as required.
  • Complete any other tasks that are deemed appropriate for this role and assigned by the manager/supervisor.

International Team Members

The team consists mostly of employees in their 20s to 40s with international backgrounds. Performance reviews are conducted annually, and promotions are based on performance. Regardless of age or length of service, your efforts are transparently reflected in your evaluation. There is a possibility of asking you to manage the team in the future.

Basic Recruitment Process - 3-4 weeks

HR phone interview (Japanese) → At-home test → Online interview with Tokyo team members (Japanese) → Final office interview (Japanese)

  • The order and number of interviews may change.

Annual Salary/Compensation

  • Annual salary system: 3.5 to 4 million JPY
  • Social insurance fully provided
  • Commuting allowance (up to 30,000 JPY per month)

Working Hours and Holidays

  • Monday-Friday, 8 hours of work + 1 hour break between 9:00-19:00
  • Two days off per week (Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays), Paid leave (15 days in the first year), Birthday leave, Congratulatory/Condolence leave, Childcare leave, Sick leave

Contract Type

First year is a contract employee (first 6 months probation), from the second year, transition to permanent employee upon mutual agreement.

  • During the contract employee period, salary, social insurance, paid leave days, and other benefits are equivalent to those of a permanent employee.
