This role will improve Cubic’s business performance by guiding business operations and by providing the information and analysis necessary to understand and improve Cubic’s APAC businesses and achieve our financial objectives. Manages the internal and external financial reporting activities of Cubic APAC. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Job Details:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and guide the financial accounting team supporting Cubic APAC, ensuring team has skills required to perform their role, providing coaching and training as needed.
- Support operational staff to improve their knowledge of finance and financial control
- Manage the financial accounting month end close process for Cubic APAC liasing with both the PFO and FP&A teams resulting in the preparation of monthly financial statements for Cubic APAC entities
- Prepare and review the month end close timetable, prepare and review journals and relevant balance sheet reconciliations performed by the financial accounting team
- Prepare Cubic APAC monthly financial statements for submission to Corporate Head Office
- Prepare the year end Statutory Accounts for each APAC reporting entity
- Review the preparation of the monthly GST filings for each APAC entity where applicable
- Coordinate and review the preparation of the annual / quarterly Fringe Benefits Tax returns for Australian, NZ and Singapore entities.
- Review the preparation of all Payroll Cost Accounting entries for APAC entities including labour cost accruals, leave liability accruals and labour reconciliations between general and project ledgers
- In liaison with FP&A and project accounting teams prepare the reconciliation to financial ledger of the Project Income Detail (PID) reporting
- Review the preparation of state Workers compensation wages declarations for the Australian entities.
- Review the indirect cost analysis and accruals prepared by the financial accounting team
- Coordinate and review intercompany transaction processing, reconciliations, confirmations and settlements
- Collaborate with Corporate IT to identify improvement areas and implement new / improved systems and processes as needed
- Assist with maintaining a control environment to ensure all APAC entities comply with Cubic SOX controls and narratives
- Coordinate Internal Audit & External Audit requests relating to general ledger accounting processes
- Provide quality analysis and financial information to operating and corporate management
- Facilitate “Lean” principles and creating efficiencies within the department

Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting
- Qualified Accountant (CA)
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
Essential:
- 8 years’ experience in financial accounting within the commerce or technology industry
- Experience in managing teams including mentoring and training team members
- Knowledge and use of a large ERP system (preferably SAP)
- Experience in Statutory reporting in relation to Australia, New Zealand and Singapore reporting entities
- Experience in Australian, New Zealand and Singapore GST and Fringe Benefits Tax compliance where applicable
- Experience working with Australian, New Zealand and Singapore accounting standards
- Excellent Microsoft office skills including advanced Excel skills
