Job Summary
Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions, designing, building, and servicing equipment for chip and advanced display production. This Financial Analyst role within the Applied Global Services group provides value-add financial support to cross-functional teams, ensuring the delivery of financial and operational goals for the Spares and Service business. The position is full-time, based in Hoofddorp, Netherlands, and involves managing P&L performance, revenue recognition, cost analysis, and supporting audits.
Must Have
- Responsible for "in quarter" or actual activities for spares and service divisions
- Become a business partner for Field Service Organization (FSO) and Sales in managing overall P&L performance
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue-related transactions
- Analyze and track revenue and cost streams against budget
- Prepare reports and trend analysis on a periodic basis
- Provide narrative and follow up actions to key stakeholders
- Track labor hour trends to analyze utilization of workforce
- Track spares consumption against forecast and provide analysis
- Analyze movements in gross margin of customer service contracts
- Perform monthly close tasks, including revenue accruals, deferred revenue management, spending reviews, margin reviews, account reconciliations
- Own SOX controls in the areas of revenue and cost
- Support internal and external audits and preparation of quarterly balance sheet review package
- Identify process improvement opportunities to drive time and cost efficiencies
- Support Projects

- Bachelor or Master in Finance, Business Controlling or Accounting
- 3+ years of experience in a Financial analysis/Business Controlling position

What You’ll Do
As a Financial Analyst for our Applied Global Services group in Applied Materials you will be responsible for value-add financial support to cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of financial and operational goals of our Spares and Service business.
This role is located at our European Finance Headquarters in Hoofddorp, Netherlands and is a permanent full-time position.
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the “in quarter” or actual activities for our spares and service divisions, which also includes becoming a business partner for Field Service Organization (FSO), and Sales in managing the overall P&L performance for Service and Spares business
- Ensures the accurate and timely recording of revenue-related transactions in accordance with the Company’s revenue recognition policy.
- Analyses and tracks revenue and cost streams against budget, prepares reports and trend analysis on a periodic basis and provides narrative and follow up actions to key stakeholders
- Tracks labour hour trends to analyse utilization of workforce
- Tracks spares consumption against forecast, and provide analysis accordingly
- Analyses movements in gross margin of customer service contracts and provides explanation of variances to budget and proposes corrective actions if and when needed
- Performs the monthly close tasks, including revenue accruals, deferred revenue management, spending reviews, margin reviews, account reconciliations and other duties as necessary
- Owns SOX controls in the areas of revenue and cost
- Supports internal and external audits and the preparation of the quarterly balance sheet review package
- Identifies process improvement opportunities to drive time and cost efficiencies
