Job Description

As a Freelance Producer of Culinary Experiences, you will organize and promote shows to build a strong Sofar community in the food and beverage industry. You will partner with local LA city operations and marketing teams to produce exceptional events, conceptualize and execute local marketing initiatives, and expand Sofar’s footprint in the culinary community. Producers need strong business sense, awareness of cultural trends, and networks to organize live events.
Must Have:
  • Organize and promote culinary shows to build Sofar community in LA.

  • Conceptualize and execute local marketing initiatives.
  • Expand Sofar’s footprint in the culinary community.
  • Lead curation, planning, and promotion for music and culinary events.
  • Develop local relationships for city-connected food and music events.
  • Source and onboard unique venues aligned with Sofar’s brand.
  • Ensure high-quality shows with magical, hospitality-rooted experiences.
  • Collaborate on strategy to grow culinary experiences (shows, neighborhoods, themes).
  • Promote and sell tickets using self-directed local marketing.
  • Create content to promote events.
  • Build relationships with local organizations for community and reach.
  • 1-3 years experience in live event curation, promotion, marketing, sales, or partnerships.
  • Possess a discerning palate and deep network in the local F&B community.
  • Passionate about arts, eager to build local connections and opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of LA city, its neighborhoods, and cultural scene.
  • Ability to connect with diverse community-driven organizations and media partners.
  • Actively engaged in local cultural scene and community building.
  • Exceptional time management and clear written communication skills.

THE ROLE

As a Freelance Producer of Culinary Experiences, you’ll organize and promote shows to build a strong and vibrant Sofar community in the food and beverage industry. You’ll be a true Sofar ambassador – partnering closely with the local LA city operations and marketing teams to produce exceptional events, conceptualise and execute local marketing initiatives, and expand Sofar’s footprint in the culinary community.

Our Producers have strong business sense, maintain a keen awareness of cultural trends, and have communities that they can easily tap in to organize amazing live events (including celebrity chefs, unique venues, sponsors, etc.). They’re entrepreneurial, resourceful, and driven; whether it’s figuring out how to creatively sell tickets or dealing with a live event curveball, they know how to get things done and thrive on the challenge. *Please note: Our Producers are freelancers who earn commission-based pay. It will allow for a flexible schedule, but your activities will likely take place over weekends and evenings.*

What you'll do:

  • Lead curation, planning and promotion for music and culinary events in LA, continuing to grow our networks as needed
  • Develop local relationships in LA to ensure Sofar’s food and music events are genuinely connected to, and representative of the city
  • Source and onboard unique venues that align with Sofar’s brand and mission
  • Own the quality of your shows (including attending shows), working closely with the local LA team to ensure magical experiences that are rooted in hospitality
  • Create a vision and collaborate with the local LA team to build and execute your strategy to grow culinary experiences - number of monthly shows, neighborhoods, show theme ideas, etc.
  • Promote and sell tickets with self-directed local marketing tactics
  • Create content to help promote your events, either coordinating with external photographers and videographers, or producing your own content
  • Identify and build relationships with local organizations with like-minded audiences to build community, broaden our reach, and co-promote experiences

Who you are:

  • You have 1-3 years of experience in live event curation, promotion,marketing, sales, and/or partnerships
  • You have a discerning palate a deep network within the local F&B community
  • You are passionate about the arts, and eager to capitalize on everything that a Sofar show offers – including building local connections and giving opportunities to chefs and mixologists in your community
  • You have a strong pulse on your city, the unique nature of each neighborhood, and where people like to spend their free time
  • You know how to connect with diverse community-driven organizations, media partners, or local businesses that would add strategic value to growing our presence in LA
  • You’re actively engaged in your local cultural scene and build community around it
  • You have exceptional time management skills and are a clear written communicator
