Job description

Do you have the right VIBES? We are looking for a Front-End Developer to join our team to bridge the gap between mechanical engineers, designers and our in-house developers.

Who are we?

We are a scale-up tech company with our roots in engineering. At VIBES we make innovative software to reduce sound and vibrations, which is used in the development of electrical vehicles and high-tech industry. Because we operate in a niche market, we are driven to create top-quality stand-alone software, which is used by leading companies worldwide, such as BMW, Hyundai, Volvo and ASML.

Our goal is to make intuitive and beautiful applications for sound and vibration engineers. Ideas for features often come from requests for certain engineering solutions. Our in-house engineers and tech team break those requests down into technical features, consisting of algorithms, back-end code etc. However, they will not go beyond creating rough mock-ups on a whiteboard to summarize the steps. This is where you come in!

Your job will be to

  • Translate these into refined designs, which reflect our design system and UX/UI principles. Preferably, this is done in Figma;
  • Design and create WPF front-end components using XAML, and optionally a bit of C#;
  • Maintain and enhance existing UX components to keep them consistent and up to date with the latest design principles;
  • Test and validate if the software features created and integrated by the development team reach the quality standards for UX/UI;
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers and back-end developers to ensure a cohesive product experience. Participate in code reviews and testing processes.

Job requirements

The ideal applicant

  • You are a talented front-end developer or engineer with at least a relevant MSc. degree like Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computational Science;
  • You have at least 2 years of working experience;
  • Happy to become an expert of the WPF framework, XAML, data binding concepts and MVVM pattern;
  • You can “think like and engineer”, having empathy for the way they use our software, but you don’t need a deep understanding of the engineering domain;
  • You are passionate about your work and have a sharp eye for detail in everything you create;
  • You work in a structured manner and can break down complex problems;
  • Eager to learn about UI/UX design principles and best practices, implementing them across our product suite;
  • You take pleasure in collaborating with various departments to tailor our UI to align with customer needs and enhance their workflow;
  • Experience using Figma or other design tools is a plus;
  • You are in the Netherlands. Alternatively, you are located not far away from the Netherlands, you are ready to relocate and already have a valid work permit (this is a hard criterion);
  • You have excellent written and verbal proficiency in English.

What to expect at VIBES

  • You get the chance to work in a small team, in an innovative company;
  • Good VIBES are at the top of our list! Fun, flexibility and room for personal development is what you’ll find at VIBES;
  • You will have a leading role in the development of our products that are seen as unique in the world. You will be working on products that interact with industry-leading packages, such as ANSYS, MSc Nastran and data acquisition hardware of Müller-BBM;
  • You are a part of an enthusiastic multicultural team with a good mix of theoretical and practical knowledge (PhDs, kite surfers, tinkerers, foodies, entrepreneurs, musicians);
  • Space for new initiatives and ideas: we all like to take responsibility in developing our products and ideas, while sharing knowledge and learning from each other;
  • An awesome office in Delft with fresh fruit, delicious lunches, Friday drinks and other fun events;
  • A laptop, 30 holidays and a yearly study budget to contribute to your success at VIBES;
  • We offer a salary based on knowledge and experience between €3.000 and €4.000 based on full-time employment.
