Geotechnical Engineer - Road and Sewerage Works

As a Geotechnical Engineer at BESIX, you will play a key role in the preparatory phase of road and sewerage projects. You will perform geotechnical analyses and translate your findings into practical advice for design and execution. This includes collecting and analyzing data, preparing desk studies, identifying risks, and collaborating with project teams. Must Have

• Collect and analyze data from soil investigations, soundings, and laboratory tests.
• Prepare desk studies for road and sewerage works, including stability and settlement calculations.
• Identify geotechnical risks and formulate advice to optimize execution methods.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for the site and design team.
• Collaborate closely with project engineers, designers, engineering firms, and contractors.
• Provide support during execution for unexpected geotechnical challenges.
• Master's degree in (civil or industrial) engineering.
• Familiarity with Standard Specification 250 and relevant standards.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch.

Good to Have

• Preferably specialization in geotechnics.
• Ideally several years of experience with geotechnical analyses in infrastructure or road construction projects.
• Proficiency in English or French.
• Proficiency with geotechnical calculation software (e.g., D-Foundations, Plaxis) and MS Office.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.

• As a Geotechnical Engineer at BESIX, you play a key role in the preparatory phase of our road and sewerage projects. You perform geotechnical analyses and translate your findings into practical advice for design and execution. Specifically, you will:

• Collect and analyze data from soil investigations, soundings, and laboratory tests. If additional soil investigation is needed, you will also supervise this.
• Prepare desk studies for road and sewerage works, including stability and settlement calculations.
• Identify geotechnical risks and formulate advice to optimize execution methods.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for the site and design team.
• Collaborate closely with project engineers, designers, engineering firms, and contractors.
• Provide support during execution for unexpected geotechnical challenges.

Job Requirements

We are looking for an analytical and results-oriented colleague who:

• Has a master's degree in (civil or industrial) engineering, preferably with a specialization in geotechnics.
• Ideally has several years of experience with geotechnical analyses within infrastructure or road construction projects.
• Is familiar with Standard Specification 250 and relevant standards.
• Has strong communication skills in Dutch, and preferably also proficient in English or French.
• Works accurately, can plan independently, and has a proactive attitude.
• BONUS: Can work proficiently with software for geotechnical calculations (e.g., D-Foundations, Plaxis) and MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
