Summary

Onward Search seeks a Graphic Designer for a 12+ month contract opportunity with an energy client in Raleigh, NC. This hybrid role requires 3 days/week onsite. Responsibilities include developing impactful communications adhering to brand standards, understanding project strategies and target audiences, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery, collaborating with various teams (copywriters, account managers, etc.), designing materials across diverse channels (broadcast, digital, print), presenting work, maintaining brand consistency, and staying updated on design software. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, a strong portfolio, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other design software, and experience in art direction and design across various media.

This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. The role is located in Raleigh, North Carolina and hybrid with 3 days weekly onsite required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop creative, impactful communications that adhere to established brand standards and voice.
  • Understand project strategies, core messaging, target audiences, and specific goals to execute effective campaigns.
  • Ensure timely, budget-conscious delivery of high-quality work.
  • Collaborate with copywriters, account managers, UX specialists, and other communicators.
  • Design materials across diverse communication channels, including:
    • Broadcast, video, and animation
    • Radio and audio content
    • Digital ads (HTML5), email, and web (e.g., Sketch)
    • Print ads, direct mail, and PowerPoint presentations
  • Present materials and work constructively to address feedback and revisions.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail from project initiation to completion, including file archiving.
  • Follow established workflows and maintain brand consistency.
  • Offer expertise in messaging strategies for different audiences, ensuring alignment with style guides and brand voice.
  • Stay updated on design software, tools, and best practices to continuously enhance skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience in art direction, graphic design, web, mobile, video/broadcast, and animation.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing art direction and design expertise.
  • Proficiency in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch or Adobe XD, and presentation tools like Microsoft PowerPoint, Keynote, or Prezi.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating advertising, marketing, and corporate or customer-facing materials.
  • Expertise in integrated communication campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Strong conceptual and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Commitment to error-free, high-quality work within brand guidelines.
  • Solid understanding of current communication best practices.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and collaborative mindset.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook).
  • Experience with tools such as Microsoft SharePoint for document management and Workamajig for project tracking.

  • *To qualify for our benefits package, you must work over 30 hours per week and the length of assignment must be a minimum of 10 weeks.
