Job Description

Guardian Life is seeking a visionary and technically adept Head of Digital Workplace Engineering & Architecture to lead the design, engineering, and evolution of our end-user computing environment. This role will be instrumental in shaping the future of how our employees work—securely, efficiently, and intelligently—by leveraging cutting-edge technologies including virtualization, automation, and AI. The role involves strategic leadership, end-user computing and device management, security and compliance, innovation and automation, and collaboration with stakeholders.

Must Have:
  • Solid understanding of Workplace Technology, including Windows Operating Systems, O365 and the entire Microsoft Email and Collaboration suite, End-point Security, Patch Management and Software Delivery.
  • Define and execute the engineering vision for the digital workplace.
  • Partner with the Head of Digital Workplace & Collaboration to align technology strategy with business goals.
  • Lead a team of engineers focused on delivering scalable, secure, and user-centric solutions.
  • Oversee engineering and architecture for Windows laptops, VDI, AWS Workspaces, Microsoft Windows 365, and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
  • Drive modern device management initiatives using Intune, SCCM, and Windows Autopilot.
  • Lead efforts in application streaming and endpoint automation.
  • Engineer and implement secure digital workplace solutions with a strong focus on the Microsoft E5 Security Stack (Defender, Purview, Entra, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Champion the use of AI and GenAI to enhance user experience and automate support and provision workflows.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities across the digital workplace ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security, Infrastructure, HR, and Business Units.
  • Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new technologies for strategic fit.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on digital workplace or end-user computing.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Intune, SCCM, Autopilot.
  • Deep expertise in Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), AVD, Windows 365, AWS Workspaces.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft E5 Security Stack.
  • Deep expertise in Device lifecycle management and automation.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of AI/GenAI applications in IT operations and user support.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.

Location & Travel:

  • The position must be located in one of the following office locations: Holmdel, NJ, New York, NY (Hudson Yards) or Bethlehem, PA
  • The position will be Hybrid with 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH

Salary Range:

$107,920.00 - $177,295.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
