Job Description

Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, provides distribution services to FMCG clients, fostering a customer-centric and empowered culture. They are recruiting Class 1 Drivers for a full-time, permanent position at their Port Salford location. The role involves nationwide delivery of ambient products, requiring adherence to company procedures, health and safety, and transport regulations. Drivers must manage their time effectively, complete paperwork, perform vehicle checks, and maintain professional conduct during deliveries. Regular communication with the Transport Office is essential.
Must have:
  • Deliver ambient products nationwide.
  • Report to the transport office at the start of shift.
  • Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork.
  • Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including health, safety and hygiene.
  • Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance.
  • Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
  • Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times.
  • Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure.
  • Make deliveries to customers’ premises, acting in a professional manner.
  • Immediately report any problems regarding delivery arrival times, delays or discrepancies.
  • Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
  • Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office.
  • Observe and adhere to site procedures at each delivery point.
  • Ensure correct completion of a defect report as and when required.
  • Minimum of one year driving Class 1 vehicles.
  • Full C+E Entitlement along with CPC & Tacho Card.
  • No more than 6 points, no DD/DR Code convictions.

We are now recruiting for Class 1 Drivers to join our team at Great Bear in Port Salford on a Full time and Permanent position.

Job Description

Shift: 5 from 7 (to be discussed during interview)

Start windows as below:

  • 14:00pm-16:00pm.
  • 16:00pm-18:00pm.
  • 18:00pm-20:00pm.

Salary: £38,283 per annum basic + £2,000 nights allowance per annum - £40,283 per annum.

Minimum shift hours: 9.6 per shift on average.

  • The role will include delivering ambient products nationwide.
  • Report to the transport office at the start of shift
  • Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
  • Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
  • Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance
  • Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
  • Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
  • Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
  • Make deliveries to customers’ premises, acting in a professional manner at all times
  • Immediately report any problems regarding delivery arrival times, delays or discrepancies with loads
  • Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
  • Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office
  • Observe and adhere to site procedures at each delivery point
  • Ensure correct completion of a defect report as and when required
  • Any other duties as reasonably required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of One years driving Class 1 vehicles.
  • Full C+E Entitlement along with CPC & Tacho Card.
  • No more than 6 points no DD/ DR Code convictions
  • Understand and able to comply with Driver’s hours and WTD legislation
  • Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly
  • Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
