Job Description

O-I is a leading global producer of glass bottles and jars with over 120 years of experience. They craft sustainable glass packaging for various food and beverage brands worldwide. The HR Manager will have strategic and operational responsibility for Human Resources in Germany, acting as a strategic HR partner to German and European management. This role involves functional management of the HR team, supporting talent strategies, driving HR transformation, and collaborating with the German works council on various HR topics, including negotiations and system implementations. The position also includes leading projects and guiding teams on strategic HR initiatives and change management.
Must have:
  • Strategical and operational responsibility for Human Resources in Germany
  • Being strategic HR partner to the German and European management team
  • Functional management of the HR team in the plants and providing support as a mentor
  • Support and advice for managers on talent strategies and management processes
  • Driving forward HR transformation, process, and organizational development
  • Creation, monitoring, and analysis of HR statistics and evaluations, including HR budget
  • Collaboration with the German works council on all relevant topics related to HR transformation, including system implementations
  • Negotiations with the German works council, including collective bargaining
  • Implementation of corporate initiatives in Germany, particularly in the areas of EHS, ethics, communication, and employee engagement
  • Leading projects and guiding the teams on all relevant strategic HR topics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources/Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as HR Manager or similar leadership role preferably in a manufacturing and international environment
  • Strong knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • Experience working with works councils
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, hands-on mentality
